My favorite movie was Terminator 2 when I was 5. I think the answer is yes.

Take me? No. They dropped me at the theater and I just went and saw what I wanted. They didn't really start caring about ratings until the mid 90s.

A friend of mine and I asked our dads if we could go see the Exorcist in 1973 when we were 12. They figured it was just like the horror movies we watched on Saturday afternoons. When my buddy’s dad dropped us off the girl at the ticket booth asked him if he was sure he was ok with it, he said yep. When my dad picked us up he said he never saw two whiter boys in his life.

My parents were strict but bizarrely routinely let us watch R rated movies WAY inappropriate for our ages

Mine too. It's crazy to think about now because I have kids. They let me watch way too many R movies. As long as there wasn't a vulgar sex scene it was fair game.

Some of my fondness memories are going to the movies with my dad in the 80s

He did not believe in babysitters and my mom never wanted to go

Off the top of my head, I remember

Misery
Children of the Corn
Revenge of the Nerds
Robocop

My favorite memory was when he took me to see dancing with wolves, even though that’s PG-13

our biggest concerns were sneaking into a R rated movie and hoping the theater police didn't catch you

Especially when the multiplex started popping up. Hard to sneak in a twin theater.

But what comes on cable now is far worse than most rated R movies back in the 80s except maybe Porky's

The first R-rated movie I ever saw was Rollerball. It came out in June of 1975, right before I turned 15.

I have 2 younger brothers. We pestered the hell out of our Mom until she finally broke down and agreed to take us. My brothers were 13 and 11 at the time.

I'm not even sure why it was rated R. I don't recall any nudity. Probably due to the violence.

Did drop you off or stay and watch it with you?

But I'm sure he didn't mind seeing it.

I saw Speed with my grandmother in theaters. All other R movies with my parents were vhs rentals.

Nope. Wasn't allowed to watch MTV either. But my sister worked at Bon Marche movie theater and she'd let us sneak into whatever. That's how I saw Predator in the theater.

Not the 80s or 90s...but I was 8 years old when my dad took me to go see "The Gauntlet". I was a big Clint Eastwood fan, but had only seen his movies on TV, where they had been censored. That was the first R rated movie I remember seeing in the theater.

In 1970 my father pulled the family out of theater because the Rated GP movie that he took us to featured a woman with a sheer nightie where you could sort of see her nipples.

In 1972 he took me along with him to see The Godfather (Rated R), telling me that he wanted me to know that there were real criminals in this world, not just the cliché bad guys I'd seen on TV and in comic books. I was 11 at the time.

After that I had to rely on older siblings to take me to the better movies. Luckily I had a very cool sister-in-law who lived with us while my brother was away, so I was one of the few in my junior high class to see Blazing Saddles.

I think Weekend Pass was the only R-Rated movie I went to without a parent.

I think we were 15 and it was billed as something similar to Fraternity Vacation or Hardbodies. No. Not a single tit. We were all so disappointed.

The guy at the ticket booth said he would give us the tickets but our little friend needed to be calm. We were all 15 but one of my friends looked like he was 11.

Parents took me to a couple of R rated films. Dad took me to see The Final Conflict because The Omen and Omen 2 had been on tv leading up to the release of 3. He assumed the violence level would be similar from the cut tv version to the movie. He was wrong.

Grandmother made a huge error thinking she was taking me to see Tarzan but instead it was a Bo Derek nude fest.

No, not in theaters. They did let me watch stuff at home that was rated R though, so long as there was no nudity. In some cases they showed me a movie with nudity, but in those cases my eyes were shielded, or I was made to leave the room, for those scenes. I was like 8 years old when my mom showed me the godfather for the first time. It blew my mind.

When I was 9 my dad handed over a vhs copy of the matrix before he left for work and said “watch this movie son, it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.”

My parents never took me; we just snuck in.

I remember for my 13th bday party my mom let me rent some R-Rated comedies like "Blame it on Rio" and "Hardbodies"

My parents never took me to an R movie. They did however let me out at the theater with my older brothers thinking the theater wouldn't let us into an R movie when we were too young to get in. The Strand theater in Kosciusko, MS never checked any of the kids I went with for age restrictions. They never busted us for smoking in the bathroom either.

I was born in 1959, so I didn't turn 17 until 1976. In the 60's and 70's I saw Bonnie and Clyde (1967), The Wild Bunch (1969), the Clint Eastwood Spaghetti westerns (1964-1966) , Night of the Living Dead (1968), Rosemary's Baby (1968), The Exorcist (1973), Easy Rider (1969), Chinatown (1974), The Last Detail (1971), The French Connection (1971), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), Enter the Dragon (1973), Dirty Harry (1971), Dog Day Afternoon (1975), McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971),Blazing Saddles (1974), The Last Picture Show (1971) Five Easy Pieces (1970), Deliverance (1972), Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973), Shaft (1971), Death Wish (1974), Serpico (1973) and most of the Hammer Films Dracula movies.

To be fair everyone is trans/gay now and kids are cutting off body parts. Women are sacrificing their kids in the name of bodily autonomy.
The leaders of our country are implicated in a pedo ring and won't release the names.

Sooo.. they may have had a point lol
