I don't personally enjoy even super soldiers outside of original Cap

But in terms of Superheros and talent

Who is he supposedly facing that he could beat?

Outside of what...Daredevil...Falcon...err I mean "Brave New" Captain...is basically Vulture with less armor

He would technically be the weakest black MCU main hero behind even Rhodes

He is just a normal guy with wings and a shield...in a galaxy that has mutants, and legit super powered freaks...

Both him and Winter Soldier got bested by a 15 year old Peter Parker that was goofing off and not even being serious that had been practicing being a hero for all of a few months

And Disney being Disney decides to back this movie with an Avenger level budget...wtf

Plenty of stuff pointing to problems, but the release date isnt one of them. The last time marvel released a black superhero film around presidents day, it was one of their biggest financial successes and was nominated for a bunch of oscars, including best picture.

Marvel’s golden age is over, it ended with End Game. It was a hell of a run, but I’m ready for the movie industry to move on and give us something other than comic book movies every year.

Black Panther? I legitimately enjoyed that movie, because he's an interesting character. I'm just not interested in Falcon or this new variation of Cap. I like Mackie as an actor and he seems like a legitimately nice guy, but this character will be a bore.

I'm idly curious if the people who wrote the script have read the original Brave New World. I doubt it but I guess we'll see if they open in London and there's no family or right to privacy.

I totally agree. Of all the things we know about this movie, or at least are rumored about it, the February release date does not portend failure. The other things probably do.

Why would anyone go watch a Captain America movie without Captain America? This movie will suck arse.

you've read the book 'Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley then I'd imagine some of those themes will be sprinkled in here. I don't think it's a coincidence at all that they chose that title as it's a very famous book to the level of 1984. I really encourage folks to read that book.

The title was originally New World Order, my man. This doesn’t have anything to do with an intellectual examination of a novel—it’s just going to be the globalist woke agenda

That was during the height of the MCU's popularity

FOMO drove a lot of that. In those days Marvel could have released Madame Web in February, and it would have made a billion dollars.

During regular movie cycles, which Marvel is in now, a February release is, at least, a strong sign that they have no confidence in the film.

The actual release date isn't the problem. The fact that it's been pushed back 2 years is.

Part of Steve's becoming Captain America was how he used his powers. Who he was on the inside, as a man, was why he was chosen to get the super soldier serum.

With Tony, he hand made his Ironman suit, first out of sheer necessity to live, but then to right the wrongs of the world he saw around him.

Point is, what makes each individual special wasn't a suit or a superhuman abilities. But how each were going to use them.

Sam Wilson is a great guy, and likely would be every bit on par with Steve Rogers if he got the serum. But he didn't. He's just a guy flying around in experimental US military tech which he himself didn't even make. (Kinda like Scott Lang in Antman) All Sam does is fly around and now he has to carry a shield (again, not his) and it's just stupid. He's proven himself worthy of being an Avenger, but I just don't buy how he can also claim to be the NEW Captain America.

"If you're nothing without the suit, then you shouldn't have it. "

God damn, I worked on a movie with Mackey like four years ago and he had a very set schedule because he had to leave to go film this. I haven’t watched a Marvel movie in a while so I kind of forgot about it.

So it will need to make. . .what? 700 million to break even?

More like $1 billion.

$350M to make and $150M in marketing gets the total cost to $500M. Disney has to split the
ticket sales with the theaters. In the old days they might get some additional cash from merchandise sales, but those days are long gone.

Obviously CA is a better superhero with super powers.

But Sam Wilson displays the same character values and leadership qualities cap had.

the biggest thing they talked about in the First Avenger was heart. It’s why Steve got the serum.

And I’ll always cheer for Mackey to do well being he’s a Louisiana guy.

Should have gone with Bucky first. He had a good run where he was Cap during the day, but would put in his Winter Soldier gear when he needed to do the dirty shite. Also had a good romance with Black Widow, just needed to switch to the new one.
