you guys shitting on how Barbie will make money must not have middle aged wives.

My wife is going to a 20-person dinner and movie on Friday night, and we know many other doing the same. Every Karen in America will see this along with every millennial chick.

I'm going to Oppenheimer and Mrs. Iwy is going to Barbie. I actually wanted to see Barbie but I don't think I'm up for a tranny Barbie.

My in-laws are keeping my kids Friday night and my wife and I are having a night to ourselves. I have a hotel, dinner, and a tour booked but before that I wanted to go see Oppenheimer. I assumed she would go with me but she said she would go see Barbie instead.

They're only screwing each other by opening the same weekend. Though I don't see any crossover in the core audiences, friends and spouses will get dragged to one when they'd prefer to go to the other.

Ugh. But why?

Also, don’t search Barbie in google unless you want the whole screen to turn punk. That’s the first time I’ve seen such a thing.

It’s crazy to me people are pairing these together.

It’s became a meme bc the movies are that drastically different and are coming out exactly the same time. And that meme came to life

Them being paired together like this is insulting to Christopher Nolan.

I feel like both movies have been marketing for each other since they’re so often paired together

Part of the allure I assume for the Barbie movie is that it looks so bizarre. I don’t think anyone ever expected a live action Barbie movie.

As opposite as you can get on the spectrum.

I don't understand this idea at all, it makes zero sense.

Everyone I know wanting to see Opp could give two shits about Barbie.

This campaign is absurd

So you’re saying I’m the only person in the world who wants to see both?

I’m not seeing them on the same day. Would be too jarring IMO.

Barbie is a friggin family movie compared to a nuclear rated r movie. Of course Barbie is going to gross more lol

In addition I have heard that opp is actually kind of horror movie type.

I’d compare one movie to a social media challenge, the other movie paved the path for us to even be talking about it on a Southern based anonymous message board in the USA. Easy times and all that comes with it.

Two of the best box office gurus

I don't even know what to say more about @barbiethemovie sales at this point. They're huge and they went crazy today. They likely go even crazier tomorrow when the reviews come out. I'm swinging for the fences and saying $150m is a lock and $180m+ won't surprise me.

#Barbie  is looking to EXPLODE in the West. Americas and Europe are simply mind-blowing. LATAM, Europe and ANZ should easily be over $130M weekend. Overall INT weekend could be $150M.

They already made a perfectly good Barbie movie. It was called Legally Blonde.

With their significant others. I highly doubt you'll see a group of straight men walking in to see it.

I thought gay men and transwomen were the target audience.

We're doing both on the same day. Figured why not.

My wife, daughter, mom, and MIL are all going see this together next week. I don't think they've gone see a movie together, ever.

I really don't understand the appeal. I saw one trailer, and it seemed like it was strictly made to be an internet meme.

You aren't the Barbie market. The Barbie market are the women and girls attending the Taylor Swift concerts. There are a lot of them/us. Barbie looks like fun if only for the costume and set design. Way more than half the women and girls played with Barbie as children. That's who wants to see the movie.

Because they aren't you. That's why.

Thanks for the tip. You mean you've never seen any of the cool tricks Google has done related to many pop culture things? Living under a rock, you are,
