Spoilers for anyone watching season 1 now:
That twist where his friends died mid season shocked the hell out of me. I did not see that coming. I thought they had figured out the supposed trick of the game - the wolf was chasing the sheep and the sheep were hiding despite the game saying you wanted to be the wolf. I thought they had accidentally figured that out, but nope, the winner really was the wolf.

It's much better than Squid Game. Squid Game's mystery was pretty boring, especially when they used such a generic stereotype as one of the bad guys behind it, and even the major plot twist was pretty telegraphed and predictable.
Alice in Borderland kept the mystery rolling all the way into season 2, we still don't really know what's going on or who/what's behind it. When all is revealed maybe it will go off the rails, but even if it does, the journey there will have been much better because it has a much better cast of characters.

I remember liking this show but it's been so long since the first season came out I've pretty much forgotten everything. I'm going to need to watch a recap video or something prior to the premiere

Much better than Squid game for sure. Pumped for the second season. Rewatched the final episode the other night as a refresher.

Looking forward to it, although need to go back and watch Season 1.
The first season was great, aside of a majority of the portion when they made it to the colony with the others. The fight scenes were laughable.
Nonetheless, great show.
