Maybe so, but both have been incredibly entertaining. Gotta give props to the imports from Korea and Japan on these. There's have been some bangers coming from across the Pacific.

Getting these tastes of live action shows and movies from these other countries is honestly a good thing. While I wouldn't trade America's diversity, I think that coming from these pretty homogenized cultures means that the politics takes a backseat (or perceived politics).

I totally forgot this show existed. I suppose I have a backlog to get through now.

S2 feels like it was trying to be squid games too much. S1 was better.

The characters are also overly campy.

I get that the asian shows make everything oddly obvious and campy. but if it was an American show it would not be rated well or popular.

I’m still a fan, but it could be better.

Is this actually a good show, or is it mainly for the tiktok cosplay twink generation? The premise is intriguing.

It’s based off a manga series. I am tempted to read them to see the differences.

Season 1 was good. Season 2 is meh. I'll still watch a season 3 if they come out with one.

I'm 5 eps into season 2 and it's decent. Won't be an all time fave for me or anything but I'll certainly see it through.

At this point I feel like we have gotten practically zero answers to the actual, ultimate questions. In 5 episodes basically the only headway we've made at all is that people that have won games can stay on and be "citizens" and run their own games. That's it. We have made no progress on the game masters, their motivations, what's happened to the outside world, etc.

Like squid game, I do enjoy seeing each new game and how elaborate or crazy they are and how our main characters can hopefully scheme a way to defeat them. But the rest of the storyline is DRAGGING.

I am almost done with me S1 rewatch. Man, I forgot just how much I hated this idiot:

Like it's legit cringeworthy every single time he is on screen or has a line.

I did not do a rewatch of season 1 and can't remember, were the Ace's used in season 1 ?

We didn’t see the games, but they were marked off on the wall as already played. They must have been super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Just finished S2 and did a rewatch of S1 prior. I was still engaged throughout S2 and enjoyed it, though it did get a little slow at times through the dialouge.

***SPOILERS***

Main question I have is during the croquet scene... was Mira (as a doctor) and that whole part still within the Borderland??

Also seemed there were some who ultimately lived after the meteor even though they died in borderland. Did I miss something?

Not sure what direction they'd go with a S3, but I'm sure I'll watch it anyways.

My assumption is that something was put into the tea to make them more susceptible to what she was saying.

I’ve got another minor annoyance to gripe about - a lot of players seemed determined to stay dressed in the clothes they were taken in, no matter how impractical or uncomfortable they would be to play in

I was very thankful for this, as I kept getting a lot of the characters mixed up. Pretty much all of season 1 I was like jerry Seinfeld: “you mean that was the same guy?” It was easier by season 2 based on clothing (or lack thereof).

Speaking of which, I think it’s safe to say that the nudist philosophy of the King of Clubs was definitively proven fatally wrong.

Started the show because of this thread. Absolutely loving it. Three episodes into season 2 so far. I'm assuming this show is based off of an anime?

I've gone back and forth watching the sub and dub versions. I think they did a pretty decent job with the dub voices, which was surprising.

It is not. Show gets pretty deep with the game choices and doesn't shy away from some good murder.

this is the sort of thing i was referring to as well. the characters try to hard to be in character that they know nothing else but of that one way character.

or maybe the point is that its a dream and they aren't supposed to be able to change.

I was thinking all the surviving players that returned to the real world would discover it was boring and unfulfilling and they would all end up getting back together and find a way to go back to Borderland, but it appears that they don't have any memory of the Borderland, so I guess that's not it. They definitely left room for a S3 though, so I hope it happens and I'll be interested to see where the show goes.

Overall, I loved the show though. I liked this better than Squid Games.
