Add to the list: People don't like Billy Eichner.

I actually liked his character on P&R. I know most hated him, but I thought he was fine. I had never heard of Billy on the Streets until today. After watching some clips, I have changed my mind. I hate the character on P&R and can't stand any of the clips that I watched.

I'm a huge Parks and Rec's fan and his character was annoying as hell.

Ohhhh, it's that guy?

Yeah, his character was annoying and unfunny as hell. Had nothing to do with his gay stuff. His lines sucked and his delivery sucked. At least he's good at sucking I guess.

Want me to go see your gay movies? 1: make it entertaining. 2: don't make it about "being gay" 3: see number 1.

What was name of that movie with Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, and Hank Azaria? Gay as it could be but that shite was hilarious

The Bird Cage. And yes, it had many gay characters. And it made a lot of jokes directed at conservatives. But, much like Blazing Saddles, it actually poked holes at a lot of different stereotypes.

The story of two very different families uniting to support their son/daughter getting married is old as the first Romeo and Juliet "twist" movie.

And yes, it was very entertaining.

They don’t know why a romantic comedy, a genre almost solely geared towards woman viewers, with zero women in it, didn’t make any money? It’s not fricking brain surgery. Women don’t want to see a romantic comedy about 2 gay dudes and straight men don’t want to watch any romantic comedy.

Bird Cage was #1 in the theaters for weeks and made a killing financially. If Bros had a Robin Williams/Gene Hackman level cast and was written/directed by May and Nichols, it probably would've done well in spite of the gay factor.

Robin Williams also hasn't spent the better part of 5 years telling me i'm an a-hole as well.

It appealed to the masses because the premise was having to hide it from their future in-laws with lovable leads (you're correct there) was something people could understand and relate to and laugh at.

Gay men talking about a lot of sex, i did not relate to.

A sadly under-appreciated comedy.

Tom Selleck playing a gay guy was definitely a departure from getting pissed at Sam Kinison over the gay jokes at his expense years earlier.

It looks like this film was marketed clearly towards that community. I don’t think that helped.

A good example is the 1996 comedy The Birdcage, just about everyone likes that film and it was marketed to everyone.

Michael Shur cast way more likeable gay characters (but straight actors) in Office and B99. Nobody hates Oscar or Holt.

It's actually probably much closer to 1% than 5.

It’s A Wonderful Life and Shawshank Redemption are two famous examples of movies that did not do well in theaters but are now considered classics after being broadcast on television. Perhaps Bros will have the same trajectory.

Reason 7: a movie that appeals to 5% of the population ain’t going to make money. When you can’t get that 5% to the theater, you’re doomed.

Plus 5% is just the total estimate for all LGBTQ people. I'd be willing to bet a good chunk don't like dudes

It failed because it's a movie nobody asked for, starring unlikeable people, preaching a message no one wants to hear.
So exactly 100% opposite of Top Gun Maverick. I am shocked!

They should have cast Cruise and Travolta as the leads. People watch those homos’ movies

Cruise and Pitt made quite the pair in "Interview with the Vampire", if you couldn't detect the homo-eroticism in that movie your eyes weren't open.
