In a sport with only 5 starting players, you think every #1 overall pick should be “transcendent”?

How are you defining Transcendent, because based on how you are using it, I don’t think you know what that word means.
maybe transcendent was a strong word but he should be a 25+ point a night guy reagardless of position by year 3 as a no.1 overall guy.

he’s been solid but he’s at best the third option on his team. He’s a number one overall pick and he’s nothing like Anthony edwards or Zion. He should be way better than he is

Uou realize not every draft has zion or edwards, right?

Ok. A team maybe overvalued a player and thought he was better than you think he was.

Or they liked his fit for their team which you disagree with.

They just won their first game in the WCF with him. So it’s working for them.

What team are you GMing?

These hindsight restarts are so stupid.

If Ayton played for the Pistons he’d be averaging 25 a night.

When you play for better teams, you’re not going to get as many looks, and that is a good thing.

So basically your question is why don’t scouts nail the draft perfectly every year?

Is that really your question?

luka and trae both selected after ayton. Michael porter has been solid as well. Some other talent but nothing groundbreaking.

uh, without CP3, he'd be over 20ppg

he sacrificed individual stats this year to make the team better

thank you

he was trending to be over 20ppg this year but the CP3 acquisition changed their offense and he took a smaller role on offense and a bigger role on defense

if he was on a shitty team, he'd be putting up crazy stats

No he hasn’t…. Simmons has been a no show in clutch time way back in his LSU days….. he thinks he can get away with being an assist guy and get garbage baskets…. He’s basically terrible.

Jamal Murray

brown
ingram

it was a reasonable expectation Simmons would learn jumper form.
he dated a Kardashian instead.

There isn’t a Zion in every draft.

Even with him having a full mental breakdown in the playoff there are maybe 2 players you could argue should have gone #1 over Simmons that year
Jaylen Brown and Brandon Ingram.

Ingram hasn’t been to the playoffs to melt down and Brown is just now starting to look like an all star in the past couple years.

Foltz was a bad pick.

Fultz also had a complete mental yip and decided to change his shooting motion.

He became a different player than the guy they drafted.

yeah i mean Fultz is still a playable guy in the NBA with his issues. imagine what he'd be with a legit outside shot/FT shooting

They were just overhyped out of high school And were never even the best players their seasons in college. And now none of them are game changers in the nba. Whereas luka, booker, jokic were all mostly over looked. Yeah I know luka was still a lottery but he didn’t have any of the hype those other guys did. When will teams and GMs learn not to trust the ESPN hype train?

You may want to take a look at where Simmons ranks among others in his draft class in pretty much every stat. Hint: he's at the top or near the top.

He is a really, really good player. He just can't shoot and has a mental block on it now.

quote:

For those arguing the 76ers should NOT have taken Ben Simmons 1st in 2016 Draft:

He ranks #1 in his class for: Win Shares, BPM and VORP. He leads the entire class in assists per game by a full 3 assists.

He ranks #2 in rebounds & #4 in points.

Simmons is a 3 time NBA All-Star, 2 time 1st Team All-Defensive team, 1 time 3rd Team All-NBA.

He is not a scrub … the only two players in his draft class to even come close are Jamal Murray & Domantas Sabonis.

Neither was a candidate for the No. 1 pick in 2016

Why would you dickride for this guy?

He had one good game at LSU and it was against North Florida, and he shot the ball a total of four times in the fourth quarter in the entire series against Atlanta, and he shot 34 percent from the line.

The dude sucks.

After what Ben Simmons pulled from the second half of the LSU/Oklahoma game in 2016 and throughout the remainder of his one and done, he should have been blacklisted and relegated to the bench in the Israeli league.

I think Shaq was too late in saying he would have beat his arse. Shaq should have shown up when he was at LSU and set that boy straight. An assbeat by Shaq would be good for the young man.
