DeAndre Ayton isn't the level player that Luka or Trae is. But he was still a solid pick-up imo.

He definitely doesn't deserve to be mentioned with Markelle Fultz or anything

Ben Simmons sucks.

I’ve been saying that for years.

It’s just a shitty “hot take”

He obviously was searching for something to be edgy about but it fell way flat lol

he’s nothing like Anthony edwards or Zion. He should be way better than he is

1. zion cannot play defense.
zion cannot shoot away from the inside .
2. ayton has a much more complete game.

why should ayton be better than ayton?
some idealistic notion.

zion is the big gamble.
will he learn a simple jumper or will his feet break before that?

because I don’t care about was and were on an internet message board? There’s a reason nobody makes a 6 figure income with an English degree. It’s because nobody cares about grammar

I’m with you here. The people that call out people for grammar on a message board like it’s some big gotcha are just completely LOL

But your op is still stupid

The only thing people are talking about is ayton who, while not as bad as Simmons or fultz, is not playing the way a 1st overall pick should perform and is at best the 3rd best pick in his draft class.

In one of the best draft classes in a very, very long time.

He’s a very good player. You could have just done the thread without including him. Just add Wiggins or Bennett instead and people would be far more likely to get your point.

Ok so he should have been picked third maybe?

You gotta factor in team fit, the rest of the draft class, etc. this shite isn’t always black and white.

What’s the point of doing a redraft that’s 20/20? You can do this for any sport, any year and I’m sure find picks that should have been made at different times. It’s a dumb exercise.

Ayton is a traditional big man that’s almost out of place in today’s nba. Offensively, he may be playing the least important position. Any deficiencies are more attributable to the style of the modern game rather than his shortcomings.

Idk to me a 1st overall pick should be a better scorer. He’s just not elite in that regard at all. T

really? Outside of trae and luka there’s nobody in that draft that jumps off the page. Which to me works in aytons favor since there weren’t many can’t miss prospects but there’s no doubt luka was the best player by a mile looking back but of course they couldn’t know that at the time. Imo trae was the clear no.1 pick that year. The fact that he fell to 5 was mine boggling. Too many people put emphasis on position need when they shouldn’t in basketball. Football for sure you go with need but I’m basketball get the best possible player. If you got 2 great guards or big men or wing players you can play them both at the same time.

In a sport with only 5 starting players, you think every #1 overall pick should be “transcendent”?

How are you defining Transcendent, because based on how you are using it, I don’t think you know what that word means.

Do you watch the NBA?

Honest question, because that is a very, very good draft. Or it’s possible you just don’t know how few players turn out to be good in any given draft.

Like I said. This dude thought this was an edgy hot take but failed. He’s all over the map.
