Who are the “blue bloods” of College Baseball?

-USC (most titles, but only 1 in last 45 years)
-Texas (most appearances by wide margin, 3rd most titles)
-LSU (2nd most titles, most in last 50 years)
-Miami (2nd most appearances, 5th titles, media favorite)

Arizona State being 4th in appearances and 4th in titles is close, but not blue blood.

Have been to LSU series at both. Enjoyed both.

Texas fans were very accommodating and friendly. It was when Eddy Furniss, a Texas born & raised kid, was playing at LSU. The Texas fans serenaded him with "Eddy, Eddy, Eddy" every time he batted.

Saw so many hot girls at ASU. They played their games at Packard Stadium until 2014. Before the Sunday game they had a ceremony where they named the field after Bobby Winkles, the coach who won their 1st three Nattys and a 524–173 record. Forty or 50 of his former players were there to honor him. You can probably guess which of the biggest names he coached was not at the ceremony. Rick Monday, Sal Bando, Reggie Jackson, Sterling Slaughter and Larry Gura.

LSU to duke is actually a perfect comparison.

LSU baseball and UConn Basketball (mens) is the best comp. Both got it going in the mid-80s with legendary coaches, and have since won titles with multiple other coaches.

I don’t know enough to really weigh in historically, I know USC has the most rings but they’ve been absolutely nothing for decades and the landscape has shifted so much, unlike maybe a Notre Dame, who’s name still has significance in football.

Seems like the idea of a blue blood is they are historically relevant, well-followed, good fans, name means something, etc. Feels like that’s really only the case with SEC teams a few others (Texas).

Why is USC bad now?

I see other private schools have success despite high tuition costs.

Like Yale or Harvard?

Psh

Your Alabama Crimson Tide is the quintessential blue blood of CFB. And I didn’t know USC had a baseball program. How can they be a blue blood?

LSU is to baseball what Florida is to football… a team which has had a lot of success over the past 30+ years but not a blue blood

Not even remotely close

You need a history lesson. USC completely dominated the sport in the 1970s.

USC baseball = UCLA basketball
LSU baseball = Duke basketball
Texas baseball = Kentucky basketball

I think UNC honestly.

Dean Smith took UNC to new heights after they won a title with Frank McGuire. Then you had Roy Williams and the new guy win titles.

Uconn is weird because they have years they are just bad, and rarely are they the overall fav, or #1 and LSU has been that

South Carolina is Michigan State. We have been there a few times, won a few times. we expect deep runs, not exactly blue blood but still a household name in the sport

Cal state, Whitcha State, Vanderbilt, Florida, Pepperdine, South Crackalacky, TCU are all in the national conversation but none have the pedigree of USC, Texas, LSU.
