Agreed. It was unfortunate and outcome was positive. The drug, consent, ambulance parts raise red flags for me and trying to get perspective b... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |

Don’t know yet. Called insurance and depends on a lot of details like how it’s charged and processed. ... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 10:51 pm
Here’s the truth, he won’t admit it, if school hadn’t called ems he’d be pissed about that also
I’m not necessarily pissed at anyone and I think the school handled it well by calling the professionals. I’m happy with the outcome.
The whole situation overall sucks and I’m oissed... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 7:10 pm
You may want to start with known information like your ambulance cost share/copay (just checked and mine is only $50.). Otherwise, you're just worrying over worst case hypotheticals. Better to plan based on established facts than stress over unknowns. Yes, IF (big If) you get stuck w entire... re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 6:18 pm
Would your own health insurance cover it? I've always just assumed a necessary ambulance ride (as determined by the medical personnel on site) would be covered. I need to go look at my coverage now.
Some I’m sure, but all depends on how it’s coded, total cost, etc.
I don’t have... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |

re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 5:23 pm
Yea, it may not be what you wanted but the kid suffered an injury that warranted a hospital trip and they arranged said trip. It may not be the preferred financial model for your family, but it’s also not likely outside a relatively standard model of care that he’d get treatment and transport... re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 5:20 pm
Do they just put him in an ambulance while y’all were on the phone?
Basically, yes.
School called wife saying he was injured. She left. 10 mins later when she got there he was on a gurney and told she could not take him because he had been given the drugs and needed the ambulan... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 5:17 pm
The consent question isn't regarding the treatment being harmful. It's based on necessity and consent to the massive charges.
It's like getting an outrageous estimate to paint my house and then the painter just does it without me approving the quote. I don't want to sue because he messed u... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 5:14 pm
What narcotic was given. What was the timing if all these events? I
The timing was quick. I only know from the time they called my wife and got there about 10 minutes later. The school told her he was injured in an pain.
He got injured. Teacher took him to nurse. Nurse correctl... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 5:12 pm
The school has insurance for this.
I hope so. I've received nothing yet from paramedics or school. But that's why I'm looking for insight in case they do. Not trying to a cheapskate here, but the potential of $5K or more bill under these circumstances is concerning. ... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 5:07 pm
Would you trust a PE teacher or a paramedic to make that determination? The people who are first to cry lawsuit for calling the paramedics are also the first to cry lawsuit if you don’t call the paramedics if it ends up being a serious injury.
Yes, I agree. I'm glad the PE teacher ... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 5:01 pm
Sounds like they used his pain as a reason to guarantee the trip charge. If they leave empty, they don't get paid.
Yeah, this is exactly my thought and I hope I'm wrong. At this point I'm not sure who is paying them, is it us or the school. ... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |

Thanks. My position at this point is my gut feelings and limited legal knowledge. I'm fine with the outcome, but find the situation concerning... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: Anyone ever have their kid in ambulance from school? - ChunkyLover54 on 12/1/23 at 4:55 pm
The statement was probably based on their medical protocols to cover their arse in case something goes wrong. That is not law.
Your wife asserting that she was taking her child herself should have changed the course of events.
You wife, as the legal guardian, had a right to refuse transp... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
