I tried learning how to bat left handed because of him. Got decent at it with a buddy throwing batting practice, but never good enough to actually try in a game.

If you were a kid growing up in New Orleans in the late 70’s, there’s only one answer..

JR Richards and Jose Cruz.

In baseball it was Rose and Jackson in the mid 70s. Everybody thought Rose was the man with those head first slides.

In basket ball it was the old Washington Bullets with Hayes,Unseld and co.

In football it was the Oakland Raiders because they were a cast of characters.....and my neighbor across the street had been good friends with Stabler's Dad and by extension Snake....Sneaky Snake!!!!

I still watch videos of Marino trying to figure out how he could release a ball that quickly and have a perfect tight spiral. Laws of physics don’t allow.
