Interception in the end zone is a change of possession and a touchback.

Fumble recovered by the defense in the end zone is a change of possession and a touchback.

Fumble into the end zone and out of bounds without recovery by either side is not equivalent to an interception in the end zone.

I agree.

The obvious answer would be to make it a jump ball or a scrum.

Why should defense be rewarded for allowing the offense to advance that far?

Stupid rule change, but Neanderthals like WCA have limited cognitive ability. The pruning of the frontal lobe has occurred at such a rate, that they believe that this rule is a good thing.

yeah its a dumbass rule change. seems like every rule change is about scoring more points.

2) i feel like this is a good deterrent to keep teams from "fumbling" forward to try to get a touchdown. With this rule gone it could incentivize attempting that more often which is kindve bullshite.

Are those not exciting plays when a dude is diving for the pylon with defenders coming at him?

So, you fumble out at the opponents 1 yard line, you keep the ball at the one.
Fumble out at midfield, you get it at midfield.
Is one of those 2 examples of fumbles different than the other? Should there be the same accountability?

They both went out of bounds in the field of play in your examples. The endzone is not the field of play.

We've had this argument hashed out so many times on this board I don't feel like doing it all over again. People are set in their opinions by this point.

I have no problem with the touchback if you fumble out the endzone. It makes ball protection at the goal line all that more important. Protect the ball when you are crossing the goal line.

Don't like this at all.

You're basically rewarding the offense for fricking up

Worst is a batter can run to first base if the catcher drops strike 3)

I remember a while back someone posted the origin of this rule and it made a lot of sense after reading the history.

Pretty simple really. If the first baseman drops a throw, the runner is safe. There must be a "catch" to be an out. So if catcher drops strike 3, he has to throw to the base for the out.

I Am not going to say the rule is perfect but you shouldn't be rewarded for fricking up.

Offense fumbles the ball at midfield, nobody recovers, ball goes out of bounds, offense keeps it.

Offense fumbles deep in opponents territory, nobody recovers, ball goes out of the end zone; defense is awarded the ball.

What about a bunted foul third "strike"?

Alabama probably would have won the 2010 iron bowl with this rule change.
