USFL new rule: fumble out of bounds in end zone: offense retains possession

Excellent rule change to eliminate the second worst rule of all of sports.
(Worst is a batter can run to first base if the catcher drops strike 3)

The USFL has made a rule change that every league should adopt. The team that fumbles the ball out of the back of the end zone will retain possession and the ball will be spotted at the spot of the fumble. It won't be a turnover and a touchback, as is the case in other leagues.

Where is the ball spotted if the ball goes out of bounds on the sideline?
I remember a while back someone posted the origin of this rule and it made a lot of sense after reading the history.

At the point of losing possession

Is the XFL now more legitimate than the NFL?

Stupid rule change, but Neanderthals like WCA have limited cognitive ability. The pruning of the frontal lobe has occurred at such a rate, that they believe that this rule is a good thing.

Why do we want to get rid of accountability for a team that can’t protect the ball near the end zone? Falls in line with the soft mentality that’s taken over everything else.

Why should defense be rewarded for allowing the offense to advance that far?

Excellent rule change
ETA: I really don't care either way.

bullshite, you can’t fumble it forward out of the endzone and keep the ball, frick that. Hope it never changes in college and the NFL.

Why should the offense get a mulligan on a fumble into the end zone?
There's a reason you only get points for getting the ball into the end zone and not for yards gained.
We should probably go ahead and nullify interceptions in the end zone as well since the defense already gave up all those yards...
Events that occur in the end zone are different than events that occur between the goal lines. Sacks are now safeties, intentional grounding is now a safety and loss of possession, kneel downs are touchbacks, etc... Yards gained by the offense is irrelevant.

and why not? if it happens anywhere else on the field the ball is returned to where it was fumbled from.
all this rule does it change a very inconsistent application of the rule. this change is how it should have always been done and corrects an inconsistency in the rules

Not even close.
So, you fumble out at the opponents 1 yard line, you keep the ball at the one.
Fumble out at midfield, you get it at midfield.
Is one of those 2 examples of fumbles different than the other? Should there be the same accountability?

If u scratch on the eight ball after clearing the whole table it is game over. Just always accepted that as the rule.

I've changed my stance on this recently. Before I wouldve bene all for it but 2 things have caused me to change my mind.
1) with all the recent rule changes favoring offense in the last decade + I think this is one area the defense should be allowed to benefit.
2) i feel like this is a good deterrent to keep teams from "fumbling" forward to try to get a touchdown. With this rule gone it could incentivize attempting that more often which is kindve bullshite.

The fact you can get 65 yds on a judgment Pass Interference call is by far worse.

Interception in the end zone is a change of possession and a touchback.
Fumble recovered by the defense in the end zone is a change of possession and a touchback.
Fumble into the end zone and out of bounds without recovery by either side is not equivalent to an interception in the end zone.
