B/c the force that caused the ball to be incomplete was the throw from the QB. A new force can not be added to a ball in flight.

why does this only apply to fumbles and not incompletions
An incompletion doesn't advance the ball

neither does fumbling the ball out of bounds

I get it. Force can be hard to comprehend just from reading the rule, but once you see it in action in real time during the game it really clicks.

A fumble is an advancement of the football. When it enters the endzone it's no longer in the field of play thus the out of bounds exception is waived because there's no advancement left to be made, unlike in the field of play where yards can still be gained, thus why that rule is in effect in the field of play.
You've had this explained to you many times throughout the years, at this point you're either too dense to understand it or you're stirring the pot for the frick of it.

Technically, it does.
If you fumble the ball forward OOB, then the ball will be placed at the OOB spot b/c like Warerlink said above, you are advancing the ball. And what caused you to advance the ball? A new force. Which is the fumble

Of course Gumps can't understand and process the rules of football.

If you fumble the ball forward OOB, then the ball will be placed at the OOB spot
if you fumble the ball forward and out of bounds, it in on way shape or form is downed where it entered out of bounds. it is returned to the spot it was fumbled

So you're dense.
Got it.
I just think you're being intentionally obtuse. I'm done explaining this to you.
Have a good day.

because fumbles and incomplete passes are not the same thing, so the rules regarding them are different from each other.
just like a punt, kickoff, or pass going through the uprights is treated differently than a FG attempt going through the uprights.

i would be perfectly fine if all fumble OOB resulted in a change of possession.
Why does the offense ever benefit from fumbling
Posted on 4/14/23 at 11:53 am to Dire Wolf
i dont disagree. and if they changed that rule, the fumble out of the endzone would make sense as well

Offense fumbles the ball at midfield, nobody recovers, ball goes out of bounds, offense keeps it.
Offense fumbles deep in opponents territory, nobody recovers, ball goes out of the end zone; defense is awarded the ball.
Ok...
What if the offense got the ball on the opponent's 5 yard line. They didn't do anything to get there. Why should they be rewarded after screwing up?

It only doesn't make sense because people like you are either (a) too dumb to understand the words being spoken or (b) intentionally arguing just for fun.
A football field has four distinct areas.
1. The playing field - from goal-line to goal-line
2. The visiting team's end zone - this is the magical place where the home team must advance the ball to get a touchdown
3. The home team's end zone - this is the magical place where the visiting team must advance the ball to get a touchdown
4. Out of bounds
Note that two of these are different than the others - they are magical.
Magical places have special rules. It's pretty simple - fumble the ball out of bounds, you've gone from one non-magical place to another. Fumble the ball from the playing field into your opponent's end zone and there are consequences.
Dumb people don't get to decide that those magical places no longer need special rules.
