BREAKING.......Union's Joe Spatafora is heading north to take over the Drew Central program in Monticello, Arkansas.

Spatafora built the Farmers into one of the most feared programs in the state. Under his watch, the Farmers played a physical brand of football that led to two state championships and three runner-up finishes.

Spatafora tells us this was a position and an opportunity he could not turn down.

Former Arcadia head coach Dmitri Carr is now on the Farmers staff and is considered the front runner to land the job.

This shakes up North LA high school football…

Ouachita's football coach stepped down earlier this week.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Ouachita High School is looking for a new head football coach as Benjy Lewis steps down to take a new role in school administration.

The championship coach was introduced as Good Hope Middle School’s newest assistant principal on May 12 at the Ouachita Parish School Board meeting.

Lewis led the Ouachita Lions to the Division I Non-Select State Championship with an 11-4 record this past season. It was Ouachita’s second-ever football state championship.

If the school is just now finding out about this, that’s late as hell to be trying to find a new coach. I realize he probably teaches too and had to stay for the rest of the academic year, but man, we’re closer to the start of next season than we are the end of the last one. Don’t even get to do spring ball with the new coach.

A lot of schools now don’t even do spring football… they just get an extra week in August

I’m not sure if Monticello, Arkansas is truly ready for Spat.

Drew central is a perennial bottom dweller. Odd decision to be sure. Seems to be a major step down and I doubt it was his choice if he’s having to settle for Drew central

There has got to be more to this. Why would a state champion football coach step down to be a vice principal at a middle school?

More money and benefits, more time to yourself. Plus might be a move to climb and get into the school board office. This happens quite a bit with coaches.

Because your retirement is based on your 3 highest paid years. That's why they all get into admin before retiring. Also why schools have way too more VPs than the past

Ruston’s Baugh, Union Parish’s Spatafora involved in verbal altercation

A verbal altercation that reportedly occurred in late January between the head football coaches for Ruston and Union Parish high schools at the annual Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) convention in Baton Rouge is currently being investigated.

Spatafora allegedly approached Baugh inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel lobby bar where the coaches were drinking and asked him “why Ruston never schedules Union Parish for a football game?”

In his statement Baugh said that he at first thought Spatafora was joking before the UPHS head coach allegedly “took things to another level,” calling former Ruston High coaches Brad Laird and the late Billy Laird “mother f------ Ruston p------.”

Spatafora allegedly telling Baugh he should “knock my teeth out.” Baugh’s statement said after those remarks aimed at him, Spatafora called him a “n----- lover.”

The entire town backed Spat. Lead protests to keep him. They absolutely love him.

JJ correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he have two different occasions of players either passing or nearly passing during workouts/practices during his time there?

My nephew played Drew Central in baseball this year and pummeled them. They just had a bunch of unathletic little white kids. I can't imagine them having much in football either

I know they had a kid die the year they won state. They carried his jersey everywhere. There were a lot of parallels in the Dome with his number 33.

The look of pure terror on Paulie's face during that scene. "Tone - the weight loss!"
