QBs from the past that failed but might succeed today

Vince young? Putting him with Jeff fisher’s offense is like having a national championship trophy QBing the Aggies. Vince did lose it mentally but things were hard for him here lining up in the I. He wasn’t as bad a passer as people remember and with the simpler ways OCs can call stuff VY might have succeeded. I believe he was better than Hurts

Not really any, unless you're referencing the very recent past.
Offenses are so much more technical now and the skills are so much more refined. It's like saying what 220 lb offensive lineman would be able to play in the NFL today.

Michael Vick came into the league 10 years too soon. Putting him under center and making him a pocket passer neutered his best skill. Had he come into the league in the 2010s when coaches were more open to running spread option stuff, he would have been so much better than he was.

Vick would have been a nightmare in a 2010-2014 Gus Malzahn offense.

Given the number of recent busts who were serviceable to very good with a new team, you have to wonder about any of the guys from the past.

Aaron Brooks might have put some some crazy stats in the right offense but probably would still have thrown a ton of interceptions. À la Jameis.

I think a large amount of QB outcomes are based on system, surrounding talent and opportunity.
Like I don’t think Brock Purdy would be successful with a number of teams.

VY is a good example
I don’t see Culpepper as a “failed QB”
I think David Carr could have been a great QB in the Josh McDaniels or Sean Payton systems.

Of course.
Look at Steve Young on the Bucs. Vinny Testaverde struggled with that exact franchise after Young, then was at least serviceable for Ravens, Browns and Jets. Rich Gannon prior to Gruden and the Raiders. Alex Smith before some stability with Jim Harbaugh as his head coach. Brian Daboll did a heck of a job helping raw John Allen develop into a superstar.

Was successful when he played, but never even made a conference championship game - Warren Moon.
Was perfect for this era.
Also maybe Andre Ware? Wins Heisman at Houston throwing the ball everywhere, gets drafted by run-heavy Detroit.

Jamarcus! He had the most natural throwing talent of any qb i have ever laid my fine eyes on! With the flick of his rist he would send that pig skin humming like noones business. He just needed a good mentor and role model to keep him strait and in shape and he would have a glorious bust in the HOF NO DOUBT!

Reggie McNeal in a modern college offense would have been unstoppable. Unfortunately he was stuck with Franchione trying to run option for some reason.
