Because I’m sick and tired of college football playoff rules being written with provisions for if Notre Dane. has a good season. Join a conference and we don’t need anymore “conference winners and Notre Dame if they are ranked.in tiop ____.
What rules are you talking about?

This isn’t the 1930-1993 anymore. Notre Dane is not someone to make provisions for. College football is just fine without them.
You think college football is fine? That's interesting.

Why?
Maybe it's the advantage bestowed on them by NBC to broadcast all of their football games for decades.
Surely you won't argue that that was no advantage, that boys being recruited wouldn't be told, you're good and the whole nation will see you every weekend and that will make you an NFL career better than going to a school that is only on regional TV once a season.

Big East is their only option and they already helped torpedo that league once.
Who would want to deal with that level of entitlement especially when nobody cares about Notre Dame non-football sports?
Exactly. What's esp humorous is the "we're a valued member in 24 sports, though none of the are all that important" line. ACC should kiss their arse cause they field a soccer team?

If that makes you feel better about ND taking their ball and going home, more power to you.

And if ND missing the CFP makes you feel better about being little brother, more power to you.

Notre Dame & the ACC GOR:
Non-football sports: Notre Dame is a full ACC member in men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, and most Olympic sports. For these, their media rights are covered under the ACC’s Grant of Rights through 2036.
Meaning: If Notre Dame wanted to move those sports to another conference (say, the Big Ten), the ACC would still control their media rights until 2036. That’s the same chokehold Clemson, Florida State, and UNC are fighting against.
Exit fee: On top of the GOR, Notre Dame would owe a hefty withdrawal penalty (estimated around $100 million).
If ND is allowed to waive the GOR that would open Pandora box for other schools to bolt...

That's not really an advantage in any way. The whole nation sees blue blood programs on their television every weekend. They get no more exposure than Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, LSU and a whole bunch of other teams. Football hasn't been a regional thing in a long time. How many teams and conferences have their own dedicated networks?

Here's a question, why does everyone dislike Notre Dame not being in a conference? What's wrong with being independent? It's not like mega conferences have improved college football. Quite the opposite.
Jealousy.
People also don’t understand or know the history of ND
1. ND wanted to join the Big 10 a long time ago. Michigan blackballed them because they were Catholic.
2. ND was forced to be on its own. Played a national schedule. Succeeded. Grew their national brand. And made a lot of money on their own. The American way.
3. Now that they succeeded, conferences want them to join to so they can share in their wealth.
Who knew so many people on the MSB were closet socialists and un-American?

quote:
Notre Dame's independence isn't a quirk or a stubborn refusal to "fit in." It comes from a very real history. In the early 1900s, the Western Conference (what became the Big Ten) refused to schedule Notre Dame on the gridiron, not because of athletics, but because of anti-Catholic prejudice. Indiana politics at the time were deeply influenced by Americanism and, later, the anti-Catholic KKK.
Under Knute Rockne, Notre Dame had to barnstorm across the country simply to find teams to play them. That's actually how ND built its national following: forced to travel because local teams (led sadly by Michigan) shut their doors.
So when people say ND should "finally" join a conference, they miss the point. Notre Dame became independent because it had to. It remains independent because it built a mission, an identity, and a national presence that came from overcoming that exclusion.
The Irish don't owe anyone conference membership. Independence is part of who Notre Dame is, and it was earned the hard way.
Knowing the history is important to understanding today.

Times have changed since then. The sport has evolved. Join a conference and win it or stop crying when you get left out in the cold.

Hopefully every P4 conference sticks together and tells them to go get fricked

I think ND should start a new conference and call it the Religious Nine. Members are ND, BYU, Boston College, Wake Forest, Duke, Baylor, TCU and SMU. It would be fun watching the Catholics vs the Mormons or the Methodist vs the Baptist and so on. They could also add the Arizona Sun Devil's to make it an even ten. I know it's a crazy idea but would be great for tv and an easy way for ND to earn their automatic entry into the CFP.

That’s why they’re all trying to dissolve the conference…

Notre Dame has Advocated for the ACC several times, such as Media rights negotiations, supporting/pushing for Stanford and Cal (which are good fits for the ACC academically & athletically), and in trying to keep the ACC together and viable.
I think it’s safe to say those days are over……. If the ACC doesn’t have our back, why should ND have their back….

I wouldn't take any stock in MHVer. He's throws about 100 things at the wall and hopes something sticks. He has no "insider information ". He's been around for a good 15 years or so posting nonsense.
