He had Harry Hiestand, one of, if not the best, offensive line coaches in the game.

This……. He was ND’s O- Line Coach for 7 years and coached 10 NFL starters including Zack Martin, Ronnie Stanley, Quentin Nelson, and Mike McGlinchey. .

They can replace with James Madison

I agree that this would be a good replacement game for USC to schedule. USC has lost 7 out of the last 8 games to Notre Dame.

This was an Instant Classic!!! :dude:
I think Trump wants to discuss the famous Baseball pitcher, Fernando Venezuela. Venezuela was the only pitcher in Major League Baseball history to win both a Rookie of the Year Award and a Cy Young Award in the same year (1981).

It's a great sport for drinking several pints of beer, whether playing or watching. The Alexandra Palace (the "Ally Pally") in London sell HUGE amounts of beer during tournaments.......
Cheeseburger Charlie Weis killed ND in the early 2000s.....
That's Jr learning the trade at an early age.......

That was a great speech by the referee at the coin toss…. :usa:
I'm hoping that once the College Football Playoff is refined and potentially expanded to 16 games, that this game (and others like it) are not jeopardized. Notre Dame and Texas have played each other 12 times and they have always been great games. Ohio State playing Texas was a great way to start the season and College football needs games like this.

Which the AD and director of football operations at ND gets to pick. The ACC doesn't pick their games for them.

The ACC is moving to a 9 game conference schedule in 2026 and 2027, so scheduling/rescheduling games over the next few years has been challenging (and frustrating) for both the ACC and Notre Dame requiring a lot of coordination and cooperation. ND is trying to do its part by upgrading both its ACC schedule but also its schedule with the SEC and Big 10.

Some of the future games *(all home and home) recently announced include:

1.) Notre Dame and Clemson will be playing each other for 12 straight years from 2027- 2038

2,) Notre Dame and Miami have already announced 2026, 2028, 2031, 2032, and 2034, with more games being explored.

3.) ND vs Auburn will be playing for the first time in 2027 and 2028 (just announced about a month ago).

4.) ND vs Texas will be playing in 2028 and 2029.

5.) Notre Dame and Alabama are playing in 2029 and 2030.

6.) Notre Dame and Michigan State are renewing their rivalry in 2026 and 2027 (79 previous games).

7.) Notre Dame and Michigan are renewing their rivalry in 2033 and 2034 and are in discussion to add a few games before this.

8.) Notre Dame will play USC next year. Unfortunately, beyond that it is unknown due to the 9 game conference schedule. It would be a shame if this historic series was cancelled.

Florida State cancelled the 2026 game (not Notre Dame) JUST a month ago. FSU replaced this game with NEW MEXICO STATE. I think this is where some of the frustration from the Notre Dame AD with some of the ACC teams is coming from.

Miami @ Notre Dame will be a fun one next season.

It has the potential of being "Catholics vs. Convicts 2.0".....

Rita?

Good Catch: Gayle Benson his widow.

I think I thought of Rita because I recently saw that Rita Benson LeBlanc was arrested for shoving a parking officer in Charleston, South Carolina who was placing a boot on her car. The arrest happened this past June. She was charged with assault, resisting, hindering, opposing and interfering with an officer!

The NFC South has 3 of the worst: Along with Arthur Blank, David Tepper (Carolina) and Rita Benson (Saints). Tom Benson had his faults but was so much better than Rita.

I’ve said this a million times before and I’ll say it again: Notre Dame is the definition of an elitist school with an elitist fanbase. They are, in every way, as bad if not worst than Harvard when it comes to classism/elitism.

From Notre Dame:

The University of Notre Dame's student aid philosophy centers on providing a Catholic, values-based education to all deserving students, meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need for undergraduates through grants and scholarships (not loans) via its Pathways to Notre Dame program, ensuring affordability regardless of background, and[ maintaining a need-blind policy for all applicants, including internationals, to focus on merit and potential, not money.

On Notre Dame's webpage they note that 70% of undergraduates receive some form of financial aid with $64,200 being the median need-based scholarship awarded to incoming first-year students. In other words, if you can get admitted you will be able to afford Notre Dame.

Notre Dame is able to do this because it has a very high endowment of $16.62 billion and a total Undergraduate enrollment of only 8,800 students. Admission to Notre Dame is Highly Selective and applicants require high test scores, high achievement in High School and involvement in extra-curricular activities are important (student government, involvement in sports, volunteer activities, etc.).

If that makes Notre Dame "Elitist", well so be it.........

Exactly. Unless she’s “that one” the relationship will end eventually and then everyday you have to see them… why complicate your life needlessly, life is complicated enough!
Before I started my first serious job after college, my father sat me down and told me:

“Don’t get your meat where you get your bread!” I snickered and he gave me “that look” and said “I’m not joking…. You’ll thank me later”

It’s amazing, but the older I get, the smarter my parents get….

I remember him from the World Cup.... he's fearless for his size!

I was fortunate to be in London when England played the New Zealand All Blacks at Twickenham Stadium and watched one of the all-time greats, Jonah Lomu. He was big, fast and fearless.... he's 6'5" 275 lbs. and ran the 100 meters at 10.7 seconds! Here's some highlights of Lomu at a few World Cups:
