Reggie Cooper was damn good too... played for the Cowboys, briefly for the Bears and a few years CFL after Nebraska.

From that same '86 team - QB Brad Stuart turned down a full ride to Auburn after losing State to Ruston in Double OT... he would've been a great one. Pitched well in college, then minors....

And from the way-back machine...

Bert Heckel - Slidell High's 1st All-American. Track and Football star. As a Senior, was Co-captain of the states HS All-Star FB team along with Billy Cannon. Still holds State HS discus record.

He just didn't make it to the next level like the other guys. Coop is a good guy, just never got the chance.

A Rummel list w/o Corey Avrard and Jeff Cummings is silly. Btw, Rummel has been around for more than 15 yrs (I'm giving you that b/c you threw in the Bullingers)

i put the list together in about 3 mins. But neither of those guys would make a mount rushmore. They'd be in the "others".

3 of the guys i listed have all played in the mlb or NFL, and Dwight Lewis will prob get a shot at the NBA.

Avard never got past single A i think...and i dont even know if Cummings played in college. Did he?

then post some more.

the last 15-20 have been golden years as far as producing professional players.

So this is actually a list of what people did after they left high school or what they did AT the high school

combination of both

but when 2 guys have great high school careers, and one fizzles out and one plays at a professional level, who do you choose?

If we are going by how great they were in HS.. Avrard is head and shoulders above the rest of the baseball players. He did make it to AA in the pros. Cummings played pro ball in Europe.

Wade Blundell and Dean Carpenter were unbelivable basketball players. Darren Dares was great in a few sports.

than Xavier Paul, Matt Liuzza, Thomas Diamond? Jeff Winchester? Ray Liotta?

Winchester 1st rd sandwich pick out of HS

Thomas Diamond, 10th pick in the whole draft out of UNO and was drafted out of HS in the 39th round.

Paul, 4th round pick out of HS, would have been a 4 year starter

Liuzza was a 2 year All State player, 4 year starter

Liotta was a 12th round pick out of HS as well

the last 3 part of teams that won 3-4 district titles in a row. Never been done before.

head and shoulders, naw. You dont know what you are talking about man. Not head and shoulders.

Of that list, the only one that was as dominant a HS baseball player as Avrard was Winchester. Avrard was a 3rd rd pick which was higher than the others. Trust me. Plus he was a star on the basketball team for 3 years at least.

Xavier Paul had flashes of brilliance but was very inconsistent. Matt Liuzza was a great HS player but didn't dominate games like Avrard and Winchester. Diamond was a good HS player who got much better as he got older. Liotta was the closest of the bunch as far as dominance to Avrard and Winchester.

Did you see Corey play? How old are you since you apparently went to Rummel?
