Early in the tournament stadiums will be empty. But as it progresses and countries get closer to the finals... sales will pick up and it will be declared a success and the future of american sport

What you are seeing is a typical YT "reaction" video, and they follow the script and get massive US viewership. Everyone loves to hear people discover and praise something they like/love. You probably think the over-the-top music reaction videos when someone hears Led Zeppelin for the "first" time and is blown away by them are real.

Another key is that most people visiting London from the US don't end up in Brixton or Croydon, just like most people visiting Memphis from the UK don't walk around Riverview or Parkway Village.

Ticket prices for the games are astronomical

Brazil vs Haiti in Philly is over $900 for one seat in the nosebleeds. Completely insane

They’re scared to death of ticket and hotel prices that are genuinely unfathomable

FIFA’s greed killed interest. Don’t overthink it. People had no issues traveling to Russia or Qatar, acting like people are afraid to come here is absurd

I don’t doubt the fan experience at the games could very well be a shite show, including a lot of protestors outside the stadiums.

The games, TV viewership, revenue, etc will not be anywhere close to a flop.

The irony is that America is on track for 2026 to be the lowest murder rate in our history.

Outside of the worst hood areas of the biggest cities, violent crime is extremely rare.

A tiny sliver of the population commits almost all the crime, so just avoid that population.

Go to Yellowstone, Glacier, Zion, Grand Canyon or Yosemite and 1/2 of the people are foreigners. They obviously didn’t get the memo.

It will be a flop but not for the stupid reason you're suggesting that people don't feel safe

It's because there are too many games priced too high with too much distance between stadium and little to no public transport options. Plus non-free fan events.

The Argentines and Brits will still show up en masse but they've priced out the smaller nation supporters.

Spain Cape Verde in ATL is a cheaper ticket ($250 or so)
But I'm not sure Cape Verde is a actual country so there's that.

Sorry we’re overfilled.

Actually, can you bring some of your fellow countrymen that are over here back with you? We don’t want or need em.

The OP is correct. I do a lot of international travel and the media propaganda outside the US is way worse than CNN. People outside the US absolutely believe our country is violent and are scared to travel here.

While traveling I try and watch their local and international news and their view of the US is that if you go to NYC you’ll get shoved in front of a subway, if you visit Atlanta you’ll get shot, if you visit California you’ll run into antifa types.

We all here know thats all only partially true, but the international media absolutely loathes the US. If you haven’t been out of the country then you have no clue how bad it is.

My proximity to both Houston and Dallas is only a couple hours drive so I’ll be watching the secondary markets waiting for the price collapse’

Nearly 80% of U.S. hoteliers in 11 World Cup host cities say bookings are tracking below original forecasts, with some describing the tournament as a “non-event,” according to an American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) survey of members released Monday.

Last year, FIFA told tourism officials in World Cup host cities to expect a 50/50 split between domestic and international visitors. But roughly seven in 10 respondents in the AHLA survey said visa barriers and broader geopolitical concerns are significantly suppressing international demand

Multitude of factors at play, but people are not traveling to the USA in the numbers expected. Going to be empty stadiums early for sure because there is not enough domestic demand.

No tickets are ungodly expensive just to get in the door. Now the process of obtaining a visa, buying an expensive plane ticket, and staying in an over priced hotel is the main reason. Also it’s spread out over 3 countries and a stupid number of cities.

Everything about the organization of the tournament is a flop. Maybe like 2% of the reason is people scared to come here.

Typical poli talk nonsense. Just like everyone over there says don’t travel to Chicago, NYC, or San Francisco because they are complete shitholes. I go to all three regularly. Couldn’t be further from the truth.
