re: What will the NCAA look like in 2-3 years
Posted by RunningJacket on 8/22/26 at 9:22 pm to Henry Jones Jr
Am I missing something? Are not teams going to field 11 players per play? Did they not do that last year? Will they not do that next year?
I simply don’t get the worry. Where was all this hand wringing when coaches salaries jumped into the millions or when they started gauging fans on ticket prices. But, suddenly, it’s now an emergency? Give me a break. The sport is strong because people have proven to be stupid and parting with their money. If really thought the system was about to implode then ask why is your team paying your coach millions and why are you buying tickets or watching on TV?

Why do you guys continue to whine? It’s seriously all many of you have these days. In 2-3 years fans in America will continue to be getting g excited in August for another awesome season, just like they have for over 100 years. If you can’t handle other teams winning games then that’s on you.

Watching SEC fans try to d-ride the BIG is like watching a parallel universe. Oh, how the times have changed. The off season will be fun once again after ND, Miami, or a BIG team win the Natty. I’m sure it will be because you are so tired from playing Western Kentucky and a bunch of.500 teams.

It won’t be long until SEC fans start chanting “Go Big Ten” no different than they slobber knocked all over Bama and UGA when they were winning. SEC fans ride the coattails of every success group. This thread would have been mocked 5 years ago yet today actual SEC fans are nodding that the SEC should join the BIG. It’s just all so glorious watching the downfall. I’m a southern football fan and can’t believe the limp waisted SEC fans are wanting to align with businessmen in Chicago. What happened to the SEC?

I can’t wait for the after season articles showing how much was spent for teams to win 7-8 games.

All I can say is smart people will always win over dumb people. It’s not a generational thing so labels are dumb. The world has always come down to smart vs. dumb. And it has nothing to do with politics because that is not true power. True power is waking up everyday and enjoying your life. The smart people are nameless people you’ll never hear about because they are simply going about life and winning. But, I understand dumb people live on jealousy and emotion. And the biggest problem is dumb people don’t realize they are dumb so they make wrong assumptions and other dumb people believe them.

I’m a Redskins fan and while he sure is talented he simply doesn’t have the traits to lead a team to a Super Bowl win as a QB. But, he’ll have a nice career and win some games.

Yeah, but being old news after close to a decade of relevancy won’t leave her destitute. My daughter followed her way before any of us knew who she was. Then she blew up, married a superstar contract, and is making her TV debut jn January. Her future is really unknown at this point because Baywatch could take off or dud out.
re: Is the Deion Sanders allure and hype officially over?
Posted by RunningJacket on 8/12/26 at 5:27 pm to holdmuh keystonelite
Deion is a smart businessman. He and Colorado got what they both wanted. Colorado got positive press to breathe life back into their program and Deion got to coach his sons and Travis at a D1 school. It’s a,ways been travel ball and Deion pulled it off. That he can’t really coach is far down the list of what Colorado or Deion wanted.
The GT/CU game is a perfect Thursday night prime time game to maximize eyeballs for both teams. It also gives GT an extra 2 days of rest before Tennessee. And you can’t just move games from stadium to stadium, GT has done it when it’s profitable for the ND’s and others over the years but when we do we are basically giving up a hime game for money which we had to do. There was a lot of debate about moving the Tennessee game to MBS to make more money (I thought we should have) but now that we are actually a solid team I also see the side that says we should give ourselves the best chance to win which would be worth a lot of good press and ranking. Now, we just need Tennessee to cooperate, although I’m sure they have other plans.

How about this? Just win the playoffs and then we’ll know? For any fan of any team.
We no longer have to argue about who should have gotten in the Orange or Fiesta Bowl. Win 10 games, get a playoff bid and then talk smack. Right now, it’s just a fun time waster for 3 more weeks.
But, we all know we’ll be arguing about 3-4 loss teams claiming all their losses were to the 85 Bears.

ND is chicken$hit not to join a conference when they can make money NOT joining one? Some of you are flat out morons.
ND hasn’t won a Natty in forever, yet TV execs still throw money at them like they are printing it. ND co tells its own fate season to season while you guys are on this very board whining about Sankey. It’s just too funny. ND will win one soon enough and then like after UGA won it all the memes will have to disappear.
I can’t wait for future generations to put big ole asterisks next to all the non-playoff titles. Most of us may be dead but it will still be funny.

None of this matters. On field playoff results can’t be refuted. The SEC has been exposed and ESPN can put every SEC team in the preseason top 25 and it won’t change the simple fact that the SEC can’t win the games that matter anymore. NIL and the portal has built others and weakened them. We all watched every game and our eyes don’t lie.

Bama and LSU do have rich alumni. But if schools like Stanford, Vandy, and others decided to they would run circles around Bama and LSU. But, the reality is those schools got that way not by buying things that don’t really matter which football doesn’t. Stanford and Vandy know where the real money is and that is what they pursue. But, if they ever decided to they could buy whoever they want for football.
We’ll all see how it shakes out over the next decade. No one predicted Indiana would go from a bottom feeder team to an undefeated Natty team with a former no name Cal QB no one in the SEC recruited even though he’s from Florida.
The SEC has been recruiting off stars and now with the portal they have a lot more work to do. Gonna be a fun season seeing who it pays off for.

I’m saying LSU and Bama don’t have the money that a lot of other places have. Yes, they spent money on old coaches and new coaches and they bought Leavitt, That’s right now today, They just don’t have the deep money that others have. Nothing I can say will convince anyone. The only thing that matters are results so let’s see how the next decade under NIL unfolds. So far, the SEC has been very unsuccessful with NIL in the playoff era.
And yes, I’m a GT fan. What does that have to do with anything. My team, while improved, is also not spending big time money. We’ll see if we do over the next decade.

re: Let's get an average ranking of the SEC and Big 10 teams at the end of last season
Posted by RunningJacket on 8/9/26 at 11:48 am to Henry Jones Jr
Anyone who uses polls or stats over in field results is a moron. We all watched Ole Miss beat UGA and yet someone posted this ranking? It’s absurd and exactly what is wrong g with college football. People would rather point to rankings instead of who actually won the games. It’s just weird.

No, Bama and LSU are not on the list - yet. It’s money. Not who can get the most fans or who can sign 5 stars for a free car.
The entire landscape has changed and with Saban being gone, no recruit sees Bama in the same light anymore especially after watching them get destroyed by lowly Indiana. LSU shot their shot with a coach who has never won anything of note but has parlayed his demeanor and social media skills into a huge contract from a school desperate to stay relevant.
In another 3 years I expect even the diehard of diehard SEC fans won’t be able to stay asleep.

They are being purposefully obtuse and praying to god that an SEC team wins the Natty this year. It’s all they have. When 80% of SEC fans realized their own team had no chance they began the “SEC” chant and ESPN knows this fan group will fall for anything so they marketed it to the max.
Unfortunately for SEC fans (which I’m one) the days of winning 1 or 2 games to claim a BS Natty are over. You now have to play a series of strong teams back to back to back - and so far the SEC hasn’t handled it well and their myth of saying they play strong teams every week is being exposed. The one team last year who can actually say that was Miami. They played a strong ACC schedule, lost some games along the way, but got better week to week and blew thru Texas A&M, Ohio St, and Ole Miss like it was nothing. That’s what most SEC fans can’t handle.

We have just as good a shot as any. The next decade will be fun as the field is now wide open. I know we are a time of year where every fan thinks there team is clearly better than others but the reality is none of us know.
I’ve always like LSU and am looking forward to watching the Kiffen reality show during the season. I also follow the Sun Devils as my west coast team and I’m just not convinced Leavitt is the guy many of you think he is. It will be fun watching,

Indiana just win a Natty and some SEC fans believe it’s 2021.
The entire sport has changed now that everyone is willing to buy players. We are still in the early stages of NIL. Every year more and more teams are coming online - and a lot of these teams have very deep pockets and they aren’t in the SEC. The SEC has the fans and the stadiums but they lack the deep money outside of 5-6 teams (Texas, A&M, Vandy, UGA, and Bama), I don’t see LSU having the deep money it will take over the next decade to buy the big time players.
ND has to do it first, but there is no doubt they will fairly soon.

So what? The SEC could kick out Texas, OU, Bama, and Tennessee which would make it easier but they’d also lose the money that comes with those teams and TV co tracts. That’s my point - the SEC whines but they put themselves in this position.
And it’s just a myth that they have tougher games. Sure, I expect Kiffen to say that because these guys know a lot of them will end up 9-3 so they are already starting to try and manipulate the committee- as they should.
We already know what every team will be saying in late November. You guys will argue your 9-3 teams should get in and others will be saying their 10-2 teams should get in. I’ve seen every argument over my 56 years on this earth.
The problem the SEC now has this year is that no one believes them because they have been losing a lot of playoff games so the argument about how tough their schedule is goes out the window. Of course, then you bring up the this fantasy that your boys are so tired by December. It’s laughable and no one is buying it.
