best part of having metal cleats in baseball is walking back and forth in the dugout (only when my team was batting of course)

I'd kill to wear metal spikes still...so much better.

Really? I don't remember what metal spikes were like, honestly since it's been so long. But I can't imagine them making a difference. I never slip while playing.

You don't remember how much your feet hurt when the round was over?

The combo composite, metal spikes that they have now are awesome. I still slip every once in awhile, especially early mornings if you get some weird lie

Yea, I definitely remember that.

But I can't say I think metal spikes would help my stance/swing any.

How did he make it through local qualifying?

All it takes is one awesome round to make it through to the sectionals.

And how does he have a 1.8?

A person with a 2 handicap shooting an 87 on a difficult golf course in a U.S Open qualifier is not out of the question. The fact that he made it to the sectionals is probably a great accomplishment to him. I figure that most people who make it to sectionals are at least +1 or +2 handicappers.

What's an example of these? I'm not sure I've seen them.

I know. Someone with a 1.8 isn't shooting 87.

I dont know about that. It can happen, depending on the difficulty of the course. I have shot an 88 in a USGA Championship. I understand that these qualifiers are not set up like a USGA championship course but I am just saying that it can happen.

It happens all the time. When I played down to a scratch in college, about once a year I would shoot in the mid 80s in a tournament. All it takes is a tough course and a bad day. Tiger Woods just shot a 79 on Saturday, including a front nine 44, so I think it is reasonable for a 2 handicap to shoot 8 shots worse.

Maybe because I'm just not that streaky, but two weeks ago this guy who had to shoot a sub-par round, just garnered a near stroke a hole difference?
