He is on the outside looking in for the walker cup. Not sure if nola has ever had a walker cup player.
Is he really getting consideration? I didn't think he played that much nationally. I see his name all the time in the state am tourneys, but I've never seen him go deep in the US Am or Mid-Am. Of course, I don't follow it super closely either.

He has won four or five national events in the last year. The knock against him is his march play record. The usga announced that they will take two mid ams on the team. His world ranking puts him in the conversation. He will have to play well this summer to earn a spot.
Golfweek had a special on him a few weeks back. Ill try to find a link.
Not sure this will work .. Hope it does

How did he make it through local qualifying? And how does he have a 1.8?
I realize you have bad days...but ouch.

I did not see the entry form this year but that was a huge issue a few years ago. The deal is the usga allows metal spikes at the open but not in the qualifers. I know the first year that they put the rule in place, many pga pros boycotted the qualifiers and were very vocal about it.
It is pretty bs that the usga allows it at the open but not at the qualifiers. I understand why they do it but thats a thread for another day

Wow, Lee Janzen DQ'ed for wearing steel spikes, did he not pay attention to the rules.
They DQ'd Elkington at the sectional I was in a few years ago for metal spikes

I'd kill to wear metal spikes still...so much better.

They'd hurt your feet after walking 18. You could feel each individual spike in each foot.

Was about to ask why they do it

Crazy some of the names you see. Clicked on Memphis and see Scott Stallings is out there trying to qualify with everybody else after contending on the PGA the last two weekends.
Tons of recognizable names on the Memphis leaderboard.

Because these courses are all soft spike only courses and they don't want have a course make it an issue and not allow them... It would be a black eye for the usga and a pr battle they would rather not deal with.
Other than the fact that metal spikes probably do less damage than soft spikes, it is crazy that you make players play under one set if rules to qualify for the open then allow them to play under another set of rules at the open.

Well I get why courses don't want Joe Blow wearing them, but pros tend to watch their step a little more on the greens. I have seen many idiots tear up greens with their shoes, but fix their pitch mark

I haven't!

I've noticed that on the green too. Metal spikes seem like they help greens. These plastic spikes today just chew them up.
Plus, the sound of metal in the parking lot was like auditory Xanax.
