How do they break the ties? Sudden Death on the same hole?

I was wondering that myself. I assume the low scores qualify and those that tie go to the next hole until 7 spots are filled.

I'd be begging for the first group if there were three going off.

I think they should play all 11 in one group. That would be awesome!

I'd pay money to see that...

We had a seven some going on for one hole a few weeks ago as the sun was going down and we were playing for a beer in the clubhouse. I couldn't imagine having any more than that on the hole.

In our member-member we have a flighted shoot out on Thursday. It's 2 man teams, alternate shot. 6 flights of 10 teams. On the first hole, everyone hits a shot and your team can select the tee ball it wants to play. So, there are 20 balls down the first fairway/rough. It takes a minute or two to figure out which ball is which.

I thought all played one group. Like national club pro ties.

The golf channel just had the USGA director Davis on, and he said a former director (maybe Fay) always used to say he'd drive 100 miles through snow to watch a us open sectional playoff. I bet it's some intense shite.

Davis also addressed that issue on the golf channel earlier. He said the USGA can't make the clubs waive their spineless shoe policies because most of them wouldn't participate in the qualifying. Basically, the USGA needs them more than they need the USGA. He did say they got the 2 sites where the majority of the PGA Tour players were playing to waive it, but it wasn't feasible for the others.

Sam Saunders whiffed a 4" putt in round two at the Maryland qualifier. Had he made the putt he would have beaten out the playoff.

He lost in the playoff.

Damn. When you say whiffed, you mean he missed the putt or he actually swung and missed at a putt? And that's Arnie's grandson, right?

ETA: never mind, just saw you said 4 inches. Read it as feet at first. Crazy that he whiffed. Like I said earlier, you can't make this us open qualifying stuff up.

If BR hosted and needed two courses, what would be the option?

CCL and Uclub or CCL and Santa Maria?

They've got to be close enough to get between the two during your lunch...

Did you hear 17-6 at Merion? If it flies into the basket?
You get relief next to the lip of the hole, and get to place the ball there.
