re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
As a hitter Waters actually reminds me a lot of Ozzie. Gap to gap hitter who should gain more HR power when he gets to the big leagues. Really advanced bat to ball skills from one side (right side for Ozzie and left side for Waters) and significantly weaker from the other side (but Waters is even wo...

re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
Waters and Pache do not really have similar approaches. Pache Ks because he has so much swing and miss in his game (18% swing and miss in 2019). Approach is fine and the chase rate is around average but the bat to ball skills still have some room to grow. The walk rate has been going up and he showe...

re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
I think based on what we’ve seen from the young pitchers, the offensive core we’ve assembled, return of Soroka, etc. it’s time to make a big trade for a difference maker. Riley, Waters, Langeliers, Muller, Wright, Davidson should all should be in play imo. I would not deal Pache, Anderson or Con...

re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
Waters is also a pretty bad right handed hitter. I think he’s a guy who could come up and hit like .350 for a month pretty easily and he plays hard so he’s probably going to be a big time fan favorite but I’m not a big fan of his approach at all. I think he is going to look like a better player t...

I don’t think Bauer is in play either. Stroman, Kluber, Quintana are varying degrees of bounce back candidates that AA seems to like. Ray is always a guy who the peripherals love (similar to Ozuna). Definitely need somebody like that though. They’ve been connected to Walker, Paxton and Odorizzi i...

re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
Bench is a big key for sure. This year’s bench was horrendous and that is definitely on AA. Thinking about it last night and this morning, I would entertain trading Riley as well. Jackson and Folty should be non tendered. Camargo is on the borderline imo....

re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
It’s really hard to predict what’s going to happen $ wise. Look at the arb projections MLBTR is putting out. No one even knows how that’s going to be handled. I think somebody will pay Ozuna and the AAV will end up being too big of a cut out of the cash available to be able to swallow it. I have not...

re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
AA has nothing to do with the budget he is given. If the budget is not slashed and Ozuna walks that’s a problem. But my guess is it will be down to $120M or so. In that case I think you have to try and get creative....
I just wanna go ahead and put on record: I do not believe we sign either Ozuna or Bauer. I’d love to be wrong. Cheap arse Liberty will use loss of revenues due to COVID as the scapegoat
Agreed. Hope we’re both wrong....

If he gets back to form and we don’t add to the rotation it will be a big mistake. I can agree with that....

re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
Clevinger’s spin rate was way down in his last couple starts before the trade and his average FB velo was trending in the wrong direction as well although the drop was negligible compared to the spin rate difference. I posted in threads around the deadline about possible issues with his delivery ...

re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
Yes and there were serious warning signs about his health in the underlying data that I posted about around the deadline. He was the only real difference maker and he ended up breaking like the numbers that every team obviously saw suggested was possible. Lynn clearly would have been in the rotation...

re: The ATL Thread: Offseason - volfan30
Same conversation we’ve had a million times and we were talking about this a lot in the week after deadline day but the calculation was that we were the second best team in the NL even with the ghost of Kerry Ligtenberg as our #3. The only way we were going to beat the Dodgers was if our offense was...

Yankees went with a Deivi Garcia/JA Happ game in a short series and they couldn’t make a deal for a starter at the deadline either. Rangers thought Lance Lynn was Gerrit Cole and Clevinger was damaged goods. No one else who was worthy of coming close to starting a postseason game was available. Who ...

Donaldson for 4 years would not have been good for the Braves. The Braves got his only good year in the last 4 years. Played in a handful of games this year and was not healthy enough for the postseason roster. People acted like he was irreplaceable this time last year too. I’m not against re-sig...

Dodgers fans give Raiders fans a run for their money for worst in sports. Season was always going to come down to offense and bullpen if we were going to make a deep run the way the roster was constructed. Our two best relievers all year long give up the tying and go ahead HRs and the offense la...
