1) Move the season up a week (start week before Labor Day). Regular season ends the 2nd-last weekend of November instead of last weekend.

2) Eliminate conference championships games. Conferences can choose how they want to award their championships: either to 1 team via a tiebreaker or award co-champions.

3) 16-team playoff. No autobids. Just top 16.

4) First round on campus the first weekend of December (the old CCG weekend, and when coupled with #1 above, would allow for one bye week between the end of the reg season and start of the playoff).

5) Quarterfinals 2nd weekend of December (ideally on campus, but if you have to do at major bowls, so be it).

6) Semifinals 3rd weekend of December at bowls.

7) NCG at 4 pm eastern on New Year’s Day.

Amen. I won't have nearly the same passion which is something I never thought I'd sat 6-7 years ago.

This is awesome. This will keep 30-34 fanbases interested well in to November and includes more teams than ever in the process of crowning a national champion. Sorry it’s no longer a 4 team sport by mid November for those who will stop watching.

No it won’t. The 24 seed has 0 chance at winning a national championship.

This sport is dead.

The sport died when NIL became pay to play. The tampering and poaching that is allowed due to the transfer portal has killed the sport.

It’s not the playoffs, whether that’s 4-24 teams. It’s that there is zero loyalty and big money programs can raid anyone they want.

I don’t think they have sucked. It’s different for sure, but it’s a better system than what was in place. I don’t think a 24 team playoff is the answer, but there are 130 FBS programs.

The 5 for 5 and 1 free transfer is a tremendous step in the right direction to correct the game. The next would be EQUAL revenue share amongst all FBS programs for an expanded playoff.

If players are getting paid, then rev share is a must for the semblance of clarity and survival. The last thing anyone truly wants to see is a complete split between the top 60 teams or so. It will absolutely crush the middle tier power programs.

I like that the CCGs will be gone, but five rounds of playoffs is ridiculous. People already don't care by the end with four. I don't have a problem going to 16 teams since we're at 12 with byes.

And on campus playoff games will be huge. All if you whining will be tailgating at round 1 if your team makes it.

sure, when we get to the final 4 or 8 teams it will be.

There won't be anything fun about Ohio State beating James Madison 45-13, and then Georgia beating an 8-4 Illinois 52-10 in the first round.

You guys are funny. The playoff games were packed. Even if a Tulane type has no chance to beat UGA, you don’t think that stadium in Athens will be sold out with a huge tailgate? And you don’t think Tulane fans will be excited to have a shot?

Y’all are just a bunch of whiners because the old system that rewarded your team is dead. Kids and adults of Indiana and Miami just had a magical season they’ll always remember just like you believe the greatest season involved soy boy Burrow.

It is you living in dreamland believing the sport is dead. If it’s dead then stop watching. The rest of us will love seeing a true champion crowned instead of 2 teams being handpicked to play because pollsters “think” they are the best. What we saw last year was the first time we saw 2 teams earn their way to a Natty game.

Of course, the coaches want more playoff games it mean more opportuntity to avoid getting fired. They also will have more opportunities to make bonuses.

What about the year before that? Or the other years when the top 4 or top 2 were largely selected without controversy?

All of your posts come off as a delusional diatribe that anything or any year where a traditional power, particularly an SEC school, won was illegitimate.

Les Miles didn’t get fired for not making a 4 team playoff. Miles got fired because he refused to adapt his offense to the modern changes that were taking place at the time and his final 4 full seasons were 3, 3, 4, and 5 losses. The program was trending backwards at the same time Saban created a dynasty at Bama and had beaten LSU 5 games in a row. Miles would have still gotten fired even under the BCS system based on results and program trajectory over his last few seasons at LSU

yep....i dunno why people say stupid shite like that. Like the whole Les Miles got fired for only winning 10 games argument. ummm......no he got fired because he was no longer winning 10 games.

people will say the dumbest shite when its all so easy to check with simple google search

Expanded playoffs are the only legit form of a playoff. If you believe the polls are always right then fine. Every team has National Title banners hanging, many for the same year. If you think that’s all legit then fine. But you know in 50 years no one will give any credence to an AP champion or a BCS champion when you would have 50 years of actually having a playoff.

But don’t try and tell the average fan that 2 teams out of 130 who played complete disparate schedules from others and were hand picked to play in a “Natty” game was legit. What we saw last year was the first time where 2 teams had to play a true playoff with multiple rounds.

Sorry y’all don’t like it but that’s this is the system that the majority of fans have been begging for and it’s finally here. And upsets will happen so all this talk that #24 has no chance to beat #1 is just laughable. Every sport at every level has had upsets. You’re just mad you don’t get a free pass to the Semi’s or Finals like in the past.

Then why not just have a 130 team playoff?

Does the year prior somehow not count?
