Congrats. Now you’ll get to see some ads down there once they figure out a way to make more $$$

Are they replacing that space with ads though?

They will at some point, or betting lines like a previous poster mentioned. I like the bottom line. I could be more in the moment and not have to grab my phone to check scores all the time.

Whose viewing experience is enhanced when Greg McElroy and Sean McDonough discuss a team that's not on the field's playoff chances?

I’ve got too many vices, but betting has never been one of them thankfully. As a non-bettor, it is the most annoying shite ever.

Then it will be hilarious to compare the ads/FanDuel live odds/whatever eye vomit they add to this release “were better serving the viewer to keep the focus on the field!!!”

Wow I've been asking for this over 10 years. Something good finally coming instead of something getting worse. I love a completely clean screen.

Edit. This is as long as it's not replaced with ads to make money like many assume will happen.

They're going to replace it with the brand new Pat McAfee ticker.

They probably want to drive consumers to open the ESPN app to check other scores/news while consumers are simultaneously watching ESPN channels. Double the engagement for the price of one.

Agreed, this seems like a ploy to push traffics to their app or website.

ESPN will never have the consumers best interest in mind. This is something they are doing for themselves.

My favorite thing about the line is missing a score I’m curious about and waiting 12 minutes for it to cycle back and missing it again

I like this because I have YouTube TV so I record EVERY game and sometimes I wanna go back and watch a game and not know the score which might flash on the bottom of the game I currently would be watching.

One hundred percent. Nothing worse (figuratively) than enjoying your weekend outdoors, coming home at night to watch some recorded football and then seeing the score of the next game you want to watch on the ticker.
