If tweet fails to load, click here. Should have just kept Chaz or Jesus, or let Jake Hit. What are we doing here?

Spencer is easily replaceable internally. He’s a JAG and you get a position player with the handedness you needed who is an elite defender and doesn’t strike out. It’s not really a needle mover one way or the other

Jake’s July slash line in Triple A is worse than that I think

Varsho also has a history of being a competent major league hitter unlike anyone playing in our OF.
Do I think this is a great trade? No. Will I laugh when Ryno and wahoocs inevitably compare Spaghetti to Nolan Ryan in the offseason? Yes

I don't care about losing Spaghetti specifically, just seems like it's a super overpay in general, for what you're getting back

Just doesn’t make sense Crane would veto Abreu for Larnach who isn’t a rental but is cool with Arrighetti with multiple years of control for a rental that’s worse than Larnach

I dunno, I guess we didn't deplete the farm any, but this doesn't move you any closer to competing in the playoffs either
It's just weird. Carry on

I think we know who made the ultimate call on this. Abreu throws hard and has some swing and miss and probably reminds Bagwell of some awesome reliever he once battled. Arrighetti is a metrics guy with some spin and expendable.

As long as they don't give up a top prospect, I can't see being mad either way.
We'll just have to hope for the change of scenery bump.

I think Arrighetti was likely headed to triple A once he was activated on a team that needs a starter and a right handed reliever. People were speculating he was going to be sent down before the injury suddenly appeared. I don’t think he has a ton of value. The most interesting version of him is as a middle reliever

You literally gave up nothing and Varsho is a proven commodity that has produced in October
It saves us from watching a McCullers Jr whiffle baller give up a walk and HBP per inning escape through one time in the order before finally being forced to serve up the 3 run bomb
It's the kind of deal you had to expect at this point. Varsho is more capable than Loperspencemeyer in every way. Hoping a change in scenery is all it takes.

You really have no idea
But the banter is sometimes alright

He was a machine last season in the playoffs. Hes very capable of being a great hitter hopefully he finds it down the stretch

Meh. Hes been in a tailspin for months. On May 19th he was hitting .278/.346/.438/.785
Since then over 54 games hes hit .227/.283/.330/.612. Maybe a change of scenery does him good. But if he keeps his current form, its more of the same garbage hitters we've currently got stacked on the roster.
But what are you gonna do? Not much prospect capital to work with. Jim and Jeff are nixing trades for better players. Weve got a Family Dollar budget to work with.

super overpay

You’re talking about a stretch. We don’t have an outfielder with any consistent history of hitting in the major leagues. Varsho is an upgrade. Not sure if it moves the needle but he’s better than what we have.

There are zero moves available to the Astros that move a needle.
They simply don’t have anything worth needle moving to give up outside of the 4 guys that are carrying this team.
