This was the difference in the game, our normal 4-4-2 press was getting sliced open with Dembele dropping into midfield to receive. Credit to Arteta for switching up.
PSG had .4 xG through the 70th minute with their 2 biggest chances coming afterwards on Barcolas (Think this would have been off in the buildup) & Ramos shots. Their 3rd lowest xG output of the season (1-0 Loss to Bayern & 2-0 loss to us earlier in the season). Was also their lowest Possession % of the season. Outside of that first 20 min or so, we really deserved to win, prolly should have had 1 or 2 goals, but story of the season, couldn’t sneak one past the keeper.
We absolutely still have a chance, but we’re going to have to hit the ground running and generate some quality chances early, I don’t like our chances in an extra time game just because of the lack of attacking force off the bench

Odegaard is a real problem in games like these, just not near good enough
He just doesn’t have the ability to be impactful if he doesn’t have space

Just not enough quality when we needed it.

Can’t be super upset about this one, played too badly in the first 20 min or so, had 2 really good chances just couldn’t put them in
Gotta go to Paris and win it

I like Saka working into the middle more, he’s so dangerous in there. MLS is such a tank, he created that Martinelli chance by himself
Need to put one in early and push for a lead when this is over with. You’ve proved you can play with them.

He doesn’t go up high quite enough. Donnarumma was basically on his knees already
Finished the last 20 min or so on a good note, hopefully we can carry that through the half

Can’t break anyone down if you’re never in their final 1/3. We’ve been down there once

Boys need to settle in, looking a little nervy early on
PSG playing us off the pitch so far, lucky to not have given up a pen there

White’s wife gave birth, so not a surprise, but there was no word on Merino, so good news on him.
No sign of Cala still

You need individual mavericks in the middle and on the wings. We have 1 of those (Saka), MLS is emerging, Calafiori has shown some moments, Martinelli was that guy at one time.
PL Mid/Low blocks need rice at 6 and 2 guys that can beat folks with pace, passing and shooting at the 8s, and 2 guys on the wing that can beat a double team.
We’ve had some individual moments doing that vs City this year in Cala and MLS receiving in the half spaces and scoring goals. We just don’t have enough guys that can out athlete the super physical mid/low blocks.
That HAS to be the focus in the summer, AND still be able to play like are in CL
ETA: It’s why we haven’t lost a game to a “Big 6” PL in like 2.5 years. The teams that want to come out and play us vs teams that sit back and can beat us through elite defensive/GK performances + timely counter attacking are the major difference in PL vs CL
