I thought we wanted the Astros to stand pat? I don’t get it.

We want them to sell... but we know that they won't. So we want them to add a piece or two without mortgaging the future.

Standing pat would be better than trading off the few worthwhile prospects.

sell in the offseason

No one will be buying, selling, trading anything until the new player/owner shenanigans are completed.

By then, Paredes has zero value.

Pena has less than a year of control.
Hader is one year older.

I'm ok with not making any moves. But I feel the tough/hard decision that won't be popular now but will be hugely popular in 2028-2031 will be to sell high.

hauls for selling so far are not as substantial for a “seller’s market” as you’d have thought

This appears to be true and is a very solid argument for not jumping the shark and doing crazy things that I am suggesting.

What the Dodgers gave up for Skubal is criminal.

The Astros best trade haul in recent memory was for a year rental of Kyle Tucker in the offseason. Also a fair point (Shane nailed this recently) that the market for long term deals could be very different post negotiations. May be worth waiting for.

And yeah, some of these returns are absolute dogshit.

Rangers are apparently asking all their big contracts about waving their no trade clauses. Franchise brought to it’s knees by Taylor Trammell and Peter Lambert

That "prices were just too high and we have full confidence in the roster as put together" line from Dana is really gonna slap

FIFY

Oh, and this snippet about Arlington:

quote:

Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom will remain with the team after declining to waive his no-trade clause

quote:

deGrom has one season remaining on the five-year, $185MM deal he inked with Texas heading into the 2023 campaign. He’s making $38MM this season and will be paid $37MM next year. An acquiring team would be on the hook for a little less than $50MM for the duration of the contract. The money remaining on the deal for a 38-year-old pitcher with an extensive injury history complicates a potential trade. It seems like the Rangers had found a buyer, but deGrom preferred to remain in Texas.

Word is, Cranewell is about to swing trades to get Springer, Keuchel, and Marwin Gonzales back in the lineup.

Thank God we have Orbit in there. I would have guessed the War Room was "Only Retards Allowed."

I’m about ready to start motherfricking Dana and Bagwell if we don’t see some action in the next half hour or so

We saw something on MLB network about a half hour ago. Said Paredes and Abreu to the Pirates for 2 players but couldn’t hear and I guess it was speculation.

Little late in the game for throwing out speculative names but what about Alec Burleson from STL?
