All things considered, I'm starting to do a flip flop on the idea of trading Bregman. I'd say trade him, collect the prospects since he's going to leave anyway and sign Matt Chapman to a 5 year deal for no more than 150.

Restocks the farm and covers the 3rd base hole on the type of contract Crane will tolerate. Not much changes if you swap in Chapman's salary for Bregman this year

Depending on the deal I am fine with trading him. But they’re not gonna do it, I think we all know that. I’d be stunned

Interesting timing for Baseball Prospectus to suddenly list Zach Dezenzo as the Astros top prospect.

It's almost like they read the minds of the front office and discovered he's their third baseman of the near future...

The reality is this team is in no man's land. They have zero chance to win their division. Hanging on to this roster for hope of a wildcard is really doing more long term damage than good.

Dana may be good GM but we will never know. It will take bold strokes to rebuild a WS champion caliber roster which means taking some short term pain like trading bregman and tucker and reloading with near MLB ready talent.

It won't happen. We will just watch the slow decay.

I will and I won't cower and will admit I'm wrong if they don't. Probably gonna put a future on them to do so whenever Spring Training gets here. Currently they have the same exact odds as the Rangers to win WS.

But you can keep doing the fun doom and gloom schtick and ignore it when the team is in the postseason again that's always really cool. Great idea blowing up a team that was one win away from the World Series while facing some of the worst injury adversity and on-field management that you could imagine.

Why do you think this is doable? Chapman and Bregman are virtually the same player.

If Ryno stopped being Ryno, I'd prepare for the apocalypse.

Astros GM Dana Brown said the team is committed to Jake Meyers, so much so he'll get bulk of time in CF to start the season. They love his elite defense & want to see where his offense is. Chas McCormick will play every day, splitting between LF and CF

Uhhh, here is where his offense is:

.218/.303 12HR. 29% K rate, 9% walk rate.
