Great idea blowing up a team that was one win away from the World Series while facing some of the worst injury adversity and on-field management that you could imagine.

I’d hate to see him leave. Bregs, along with that needle dick media guy every DAT member circle jerked after crying about the rangers popping champagne 40 days before the World title, are seen as catalysts to the Rangers’ World Series title, which I may add, has zero doubt of being legitimate.

I know myself, and many other supporters of the current sole World Champion franchise, would appreciate him sticking around!

He can’t come out and say he won’t be allowed to pass the luxury tax. Hence talking up Meyers.

You used to be fun…when did you become such a miserable prick? Even after your team wins you come flame on an offseason thread? That’s sad.

I don’t hate Jake starting tbh. He’s a great defender and he should be better than what we had in the 9 hole. Not that it’s a high bar.

But this team has no depth. If literally all he does is add a backup catcher this team won’t survive injuries. It’s not a plan, it’s a wish.

Of the backup options I actually think he's one of the best. Not a high bar to clear obviously

Nice, he’s played some first base in the past and hits from both sides.

Looks like he frames at a pretty elite level, everything else looks average to slightly below defensively. Hits the ball pretty hard, doesn’t chase or swing and miss that much. Pretty good backup catcher seems like

I expected him back in the backup role

Wanted no part of it, and I guess that’s why I figured it would happen

It's something unpredictable but in the end is right. I hope you had time of your life.

This offseason may end up feeling underwhelming, but the Astros have rid themselves of Baker and Maldonado. So they’ve already improved.

Nice write up. Hadn't heard of him before today.

Just glad for no more FODB and Shitty QB. Those two would just improve our team significantly.

The reality is we probably sign a reliever or two along with this and that’s it. Which is pretty fricking boring, but we should still be really good next year.

Dunno enough about the money to know where they are right now in relation to the luxury tax after this 6mil/yr deal with Caratini but I thought it was interesting they've been linked to Jordan Hicks and apparently have had conversations with Neris again. Both would make sense to me, Hicks is from Houston and Neris seemed like he really enjoyed his time in Houston and performed at a very high level for two seasons.

Both of those would obviously really strengthen the backend of the bullpen, but I also wonder if either guy cares about being relegated to a 7th inning role? Do relievers that aren't closers care when they are called upon or just go out there and work.

I feel like that’s not a huge priority anymore but who knows. I don’t think Neris would care at all - if the money is right I’m guessing he would love to stay here. I’m very wary of overpaying for multiple years of an older reliever
