I guess you have to consider if those rumors are accurate. I personally don't think they are... considering the fact that the Pirates didn't jump on that deal.
Maybe Pirates asked for that and the Yankees said no way?
I just don't believe 2 years of Cole should be worthy of such a ludicrous haul of prospects:

It might not be true, but I still don’t think we will be able to land him for what you’re proposing. There are plenty of suitors out there for him and half of that package (White and Kemp) have very little to no value. I would think you have to add Bukauskas in there at minimum.
I agree with you here. I’d rather wait out the free agent pitching market and see if we can get a bargain one of those guys (perhaps Cobb) than deal Tucker in a package for Cole right now. There will always be arms available mid season

“2 years of Cole” is a long time and the reason they want a big prospect, similar to the gray and Quintana deals last year. Fowler/Mateo/lap for gray, Eloy/Cease for Q

It’s more the trend for me that’s concerning. Though his K rate did bounce back last year and he did stay healthy all year. Contracts/control aside I like Archer much more as an actual pitcher if we are dealing for someone, but his contract will make him much more pricey understandably.
I get why Cole has a lot of value, two years is a lot for a team with their contention window open plus you get the comp pick when he leaves, and Cole has the type of stuff you can dream on. I just don’t like the year to year progression his career has followed
