Someone should of hung foot in rapinoes arse when she first started her whining bull sheet. F her and f them until they become fully aware of just how fortunate they truly are to be born in the US

I didn’t like the way that person sang the National Anthem against Vietnam so I think they’re being disrespectful to the country”

This is being a bit obtuse. We’re not talking about someone who wasn’t “enthusiastic” enough or something, it’s one thing during a regular season NFL game, but this is international competition, while the country isn’t perfect, neither is any other country, maybe show at least a little appreciation for a country where you can get wealthy playing a game as an adult and save the domestic protest for the off season

quote:

So unless the entire team holds the same political viewpoints, you have no pride or love of country?

This too is a being obtuse. We’re not talking about, oh she disagrees on tax cuts or thinks we should have socialized healthcare, we shouldn’t be involved in Ukraine or we should be arming them to the teeth.

And I don’t really like finger pointing what-about-ism, the left hasn’t exactly been tolerant of opposition views for some time (ask the UCLA prof that questioned DEI as just one example). I always worried that the “right” would eventually embrace that tactic and well here we are

She was also far and away the best player at the last World Cup,

No she wasn’t

I would have been fine with her winning the awards but she wasn’t way better than everyone else. She had 6 goals in the last World Cup but 5 of them were against Thailand.

What sort of protest has there been so far at this World Cup?

Have they kneeled before? Yes. And I can understand why that frustrates some people. I was solely responding to the post that talked about the way they sang against Vietnam as being disrespectful.

I just heard on cbs that it is a smashing success with higher rating than ever all because the women are getting paid more.

Blatant lies like this don’t help things at all.

It’s been a relief completely ignoring them and this entire female world cup.

Seems like the major media outlets and 99% of America are doing the same

My understanding is that t they or most of the team didn’t sing at all and stood their arms at their side with looks of general disgust. Rapione has said she’d never sing the anthem again. While I support her right to do/say that, playing for the national team is a privilege not a right so maybe if the country is so irredeemably racist and homo/transphobic why is she representing it?

Are you mad people are cheering for Sweden? Changing team allegiance feels a bit disloyal yes?

They didn't put their hands over their hearts, nor mouth the words to the anthem.

Very upsetting to those with a Poli-addled brain.

I love this type of bait and switch as if no one on the left refuses to associate with someone or some business if they don’t have the right opinions or gasp likes tweet that goes against whatever the latest thing is, like NHL players not wanting to wear a Pride jersey for example

They need to get some more dudes to play, some junior high boys would dominate.
