It's a message board. You made a statement I perceived to be false/disingenuous and I asked for clarification for the purposes of discussion
I gave you clarification. I’m not exerting my energy to discuss it. You can disagree with me all you want, but my reading comprehension is fine.
This thing will be over in a month, and in two months only a minuscule number of people will care that it ever happened.

While i never thought i'd root against any USA team, or any LSU team either (not that i have ever not rooted for any LSU team), i would prefer this team fail at this world cup.
I look forward to them losing to Sweden in the round of 16 and contributing a grand total of $2.9M to US Soccer, while the men were eliminated in the round of 16 and brought $11.7M to US soccer. Then they get to combine that money and share it equally, $7.3M for each of the two teams, which sounds extremely fair
You want equal pay, then fricking win the world cup every 4 years so you're not taking money away from the mens team. If you can't win the world cup, and you are going to keep shouting about equal pay, then you deserve all the hate you are going to get for contributing you're measly 20% to the total of the two teams.

I don't take a hard stance on USWNT (I don't like them, but I'm not interested in dissuading people from being invested in it). That said, the "it's your country, you have to support them!" thing is increasingly silly.
If they share practically no common core beliefs/virtues with you, what exactly are you supporting? National pride, for it to make sense, has to be the collective celebration of something other than colors or geography. I guess we can just ride with those trappings, but it's going to be pretty thin and it's hard to blame people for shrugging their shoulders about it.

Alex Morgan has to be pissed.
Wasn't she supportive of Rapinoe's bullshite?

It's so cute when leftists try to turn around terms they have rightfully and honestly earned and use them against us.

I mean listen I am cool with you not pulling for them, but they still do represent america. Part of being american is being able to have any viewpoint you want, right or wrong.
Wrong:
Part of being a soccer player is to play fricking soccer not play politics

US vs USSR Hockey, now that I was 100% behind. And those players were rooted for by the entire country because they cared about and loved America! They were “honored” to represent our then great country! Thats the type national team I can root for.

Agreed, though to be fair I would probably have sex with Alex Morgan if presented the opportunity.

That's kind of my gripe about people's disdain for US women's national soccer team. It's always "they" when talking about how unpatriotic and unAmerican the team is.
There are a ton of younger players on that team now that weren't on the roster when Rapinoe and company started the attention whoring politically.
Not to mention that other than Rapinoe, I don't really know who else on the current national team is actually pushing this "anti America" narrative that everyone keeps complaining about. I would venture a guess there are some, but certainly not a majority and certainly not enough to just shite on the entire team and root against them (that I've seen via news on tv or social media).

I think that's fair, but the organization waged a ridiculous war about compensation in addition to the woke politics and kneeling. All of the angles we hear are about some injustice or identity thing, very little about big tent ideas, coming together, fun, gather the family and cheer on the Stars and Stripes, etc. I'll admit they don't control all of that and within the team there might be family-centric, more traditional players who'd love to have the average American family tuning in and supporting them and enjoying the competition.
But that's just not what we see, and they certainly have reason to know how the team is portrayed/reflected in media and the like.
IMO the reality is that soccer is, at the professional level in the US, a pretty "progressive" sport. Combine that with female activists being the loudest voices and waging a prolonged battle on the basis of identity (the equal pay thing) - and they've put themselves in a pretty small box. They do represent some swath of the country, it's just unfortunately the case that the country is also pretty polarized. In that sense, I think it's indicative of a bigger battle the US is going to confront in trying to rally Americans to support national teams/athletes/etc. - we're all asked to have an opinion and go on record with it, and increasingly those stances are very divergent.

Leave their asses overseas if they don't like it here.
