Pete also didn’t have a 3pt line
Can we count Pete's points from his freshman year?

Let’s put it this way… nobody will never ever avg 44.2 ppg over a three year period.
Agreed. Analytics has shown that one player taking nearly 40 shots a game usually doesn’t work well.

eah, that's the asterisk. Not that she plays a different sport.
I'm not here to defend Clark and I don't think the records should mix, but she's not playing a different sport

Yeah the argument about playing a different sport is more accurate when talking about the addition of the 3 pt line than gender.

She’s in a different league with different gameplay rules and eligibility requirements.
It’s as dumb as lumping the NBA and college records together. But we all know why this has become a recent trend.

I agree with all of that. It doesn't change the fact that she plays basketball.

Or the fact that one played women's basketball and the other men's basketball. Yes, they are the same sport. But totally different competition levels.
For example, Sha'Carri Richardson (LSU) holds the NCAA record in the 100m with a time of 10.75. I don't recall much pomp and circumstance last year when EVERY male athlete that ran in the NCAA championships semifinals last year obliterated that time. Literally, the guy who finished last (23rd) ran a 10.33. Why does Richardson get any notoriety for her time that is clearly nowhere near the record. It's the same sport after all. 100m is 100m.
Clark is a great player. The best scorer in NCAA women's basketball history. Why can't her accomplishment stand on its own? Because if ANYONE is being intellectually honest they would acknowledge she wouldn't have scored anywhere close to the amount of points she has if she had to play against men's basketball players. Hell, she'd probably be the first to acknowledge that.

Caitlin Clark needs 18 points to pass Pistol Pete's all-time scoring mark
This is so fricking stupid

So the 12 year old Braxton Jaxon Macon in travel ball with 8 perfect games is the best pitcher ever according to you. Nolan Ryan take a fricking seat. Solid logic

The best shooters shoot much better these days than back when Pete played. Clark's FG% is higher than Pete's ever was at LSU even though 60% of her shots are 3's.

I guess it’s more impressive than Mike Davis’ kid chucking his way over 5 years

That’s your first thought?
How about Pete didn’t play against a bunch of women who play in the style of women?

3 years with only 2pt FGs, given Pete’s legendary trick shots? Damn straight the lack of a 3pt line comes to mind immediately with him.

This argument is fricking stupid because Caitlin is a woman doing against other women. You can’t say oh it’s just women while it’s a woman doing the record breaking. The three point line argument is actually a much better than the stupid whiny incel argument you use

Smaller ball, easier to handle for those with small hands.
