A New World Record in the Men's 5000 meters on the track

Joshua Cheptegei Runs 12:35.36 To Break 5,000-Meter World Record in Monaco. He averaged about 4:01.72 per mile or 60.43 per 400 which is just crazy fast. And he's not from Kenya or Ethiopia but Uganda where there is only 1 tartan (rubberized surface) track in the entire country.

I was about to post this myself. This is just stupid fast. I wish more people would run so they can appreciate what type of speed it is.
Like hitting a 500 yard drive in golf, or 800 foot home run, or kicking a 80 yard FG, on and on.

If a regular person runs a 60 400, they're like damn I'm fast before dying at the end.
And this guy did it over 12 times in a row?

I don’t think you understand. Race was 12 minutes or so

Maybe you should fill this amount of time brushing up on your reading comprehension skills.

The announcers were pretty hype. That was an enjoyable race to watch.

I'd say it's more of a math thing.

He's got a fat arse for an elite distance runner.

That was a record that I thought would never be broken and Bekele set it during the balls out EPO era. The new Nike spikes will impact track just like the 4% has on the road. Cheptegi is also likely the biggest talent ever in the sport. He will smash the 10K WR and likely HM too.

Don’t give it to me in Nazi Distance.

Extra muscle needs extra oxygen so it's a red flag for doping.

Regular season kinda runner. Let’s see what he does when the playoffs start. Easy to beat up on lesser competition and pad stats.

A lot of the cycling and running performances since COVID have been highly suspect. There was zero doping control during lockdown.

And his PR coming into this race was 12:57.....which is a great time. But he dropped it by 22 seconds.
