I like our lineup of vehicles.

We have the best ICE vehicles in the world. Our EV lineup is also great.

I prefer to have a choice between the two.

Because those things align to destroy our domestic market, thus making us more dependent on foreign products.

The more dependent you are on another country to make things for you, the more you become its bitch.

Also for the small gov folks, this means we need to remove the tariffs that makes these cars not financially competitive. Free markets am I right?

Free markets go both ways. Are they giving us "free market?" If not, they dont deserver it here.

In what ways? Seriously I’d like to know how you concluded this by taking Uber rides in a Chinese city.

I wouldn’t expect their cars to be similar to ones suited for American lifestyles for very practical reasons.

If China is subsidizing your purchases, you and I both know they'll be bankrupt and broke pretty quickly. A smart guy would buy lots of Chinese imports, sell at profit and thank the Chinese govt for helping you build your capitalistic wealth at their loss.

Who warranties these products if the manufacturer is facing imminent economic failure?

You keep trying to spin this as MAGA mental gymnastics but in reality this is a more basic economic discussion you don’t seem willing to have. If international markets are included in your local “free” market, international government intervention affects how “free” your market actually is. Once you accept that, you can appreciate why international economic positioning becomes incredibly messy. In this scenario you describe, if left to individual consumers that all buy Chinese EVs because of perceived value, the US auto market collapses. When consumers are looking for their next car, and their only options are Chinese EVs now free from price and quality control, are they operating in a free market? Were they when they bought the initial vehicle?

I can see why you would prefer simplifying that to “MAGA is the problem” but government intervention in international balance of trade has and will persist well beyond political parties much less a particular politician.

I kind of throw the op out with the bathwater, because when you're a commie lover, I really shouldn't trust your opinions on any economic matter.

That's hilarious...

I've had this economic position for years and discussed it a hundred times....
It's not I that's unwilling to have this conversation..

You know how they say guns are in Americans’ DNA?

Well, the internal combustion engine is the next sequence in line. That’s just not going to change.

I’m simply extending your own illustration. I’m not making predictions, so try to stay focused.

You suggested that China will go broke and bankrupt quickly if they sell subsidized goods abroad. Well, they have been at it for quite some time and that hasn’t happened yet. It may just be that market penetration is not what their goal is in subsiding industry, they may be eliminating competition so that there are less player.

I don’t have it backwards, because this is not a linear decision of whether tariffs are bad or good. And again, here you are regressing back to that concept instead of accepting that it is much more complex than you care to even understand. So you make comments like “lol fear porn” thinking you are winning an argument, when in reality you aren’t willing to have the same discussion.

Sure it has. China is facing serious economic issues.

Why would anyone buy an EV ? You have to replace the batteries at 50,000 miles. The range is limited. You’re really screwed if he gets stuck on the interstate for long periods of time. This is especially the case if you have to run the AC or heater. If you’re literally driving around in a small town, I get it. Likewise, if you’re literally driving in the downtown area of a large city, I get it. Absent those two situations, they aren’t worth a shite.
