So they set this rule, right?

NHSTA isn't doing shite to enforce this.

It is not fear tactics to acknowledge the Chinese communist government heavily subsidizes their auto industry and that creates unfair pricing.

Can confirm .

Here in Southeast Asia i use Grab many times a week- it’s same same like Uber, they have Grabcar for rides, Grabfood for meal delivery, etc- except it costs a small fraction of what Uber and DoorDash cost…. There is also Bolt which is similar to Lyft in America.. I have many times been picked up in a BYD vehicle and they’re easily as nice or nicer than any Tesla ive ever driven or been a passenger in .. i cant speak to the geopolitical implications since that’s way above my paygrade- but strictly speaking on how nice and the car looks and features and how well it seems to drive- Western EV makers have a long way to go .

So do we. The newfound love for American auto manufacturers who screwed us for years is a bit strange.

If China is subsidizing my purchases, then I (the consumer) am winning.

The law hasn’t taken effect it was just allowed to remain by Congress and will go into effect next year.

I’m opposed to that along with most of the other federal mandated emissions and safety tech. If you want it you buy it.

Problem is your stupid mandates are destroying the reliability of every consumer vehicle on the road while jacking up prices.

Most of the problem with EV enthusiasts (figs) like yourself is your head is so far up your own arse you don’t actually realize the environmental impact isn’t any cleaner to make EV vs diesel engine vehicles. Not to mention the unethical means China uses to acquire the resources from Africa to build the EV batteries. No cost is too high, whether environmental or humanitarian, for a liberal to satisfy their need to feel superior to others.

Weird for you to care about ethics and environment when you’re against the epa and ok having a felon as president. Car discussion but I just find it odd how you can pick and choose with no moral compass

When dealing with China, MAGA suddenly became Social Justice Warriors fighting for Chinese worker wages and environmental improvements.

Its a weird marriage.

Surely you jest? Or, are you stupid? Are you like most of the 'sheeple' in our country, you just want shite cheap. The transition will be painful for most. However, all of the cheap illegal labor must go home. The tariffs must remain in one form or fashion. We must stop trading with Communist countries that want to see us dead!

If the Canadians want to embrace the Chinese Communists let them! I for one am old enough to know what they stand for...... our complete demise. Geaux Trump Geaux!

It’s weird that you don’t seem to recognize China is cheaper in part because they use and are building hundreds of of new coal plants with completely outdated or almost non-existent emission controls.

Due to dumbass regulations and terrible trade policies for the last 30+ years… yes I am looking at NAFTA and other similar one sided agreements.,, it became expensive to manufacture in the US.

But you go right ahead and promote China as innovative and some kind of moral equivalent to the US.

By the way… did you wear a mask in every large city in China like the people that live there in the almost never ending smog?

Just STFU.

There’s no love for American manufacturers, but there’s also no even playing field. But let’s play it out:

The government removes subsidies to auto manufacturers in the US that allowed them to compete on a global market with a communist government who would ruin the entire world’s economic structure if it benefited them. So now those manufacturers shut down, that tax base goes away, those former employees are now out of work. Where do they turn for something to get by on?

Government is going to pay one way or the other, unfortunately.

My favorite Henry Ford quote is when he said “You can get the Model T is any color you want …. As long as it’s black .”

"Level playing field" is a myth. Far too many wage, regulation, tax disparities.

If China is subsidizing your purchases, you and I both know they'll be bankrupt and broke pretty quickly. A smart guy would buy lots of Chinese imports, sell at profit and thank the Chinese govt for helping you build your capitalistic wealth at their loss.

1. I support making America great. Every American should.
2. I work in the environmental sustainability industry. Wtf do you do you exactly?
3. Libs claim they care about human rights, yet pretend like China is somehow ethically and morally superior to the US.
4. Car discussion - so drive an EV and shut the frick up about it. It doesn’t make you any better of a person. No need to disparage blue collar workers from rural because you grew up in an urban area that relies on the same people you despise.
