How big of a portfolio are we talking about?

I think that makes a difference with what you stated.

Guessing we wont see OP again except for the down days like the many before him that tried to time the market.

Although I’m not quite as retarded as you and would’ve never sold everything like you did, you do seem to have my kind of luck .

Missing the 5 best days in the market 1988-2023

I may not know how to post a picture on TigerDroppings but I definitely know not to listen to OP for investment advice

Are you recently retired? I get it, I got a dad who’s recently retired, every phone call after red day in the market is a damn struggle with him

Tell him to quit watching it every day and enjoy retirement.

Woops.

That is why you don't try and time the market. 2 big days since. And BTW, i sold some Thursday, some around lunch Friday and will sell more today.

Curious how much better my portfolio would be if I took every post like the OP as a massive immediate Buy signal.

Micron and QQQ

MU closed 7/12 at 980
MU high today is 1080
you left 100/share on the table

QQQ closed 7/12 at 721
QQQ high today is 744
you left 23/share on the table

and all of the above is as pointless as you saying you "called the top" on FRI. glad you made a lot of money. your cash is now worth less today than it was on FRI, or even/same at very best. you didn't lose any gains today because you weren't invested. this is no more a "told you so" than it will be when the inevitable correction comes and you resurrect this thread.

and by the way...i think you did the right thing if indeed you were so heavily invested in individual stocks that had run up so much. but if you dont reinvest those proceeds into a sector or index fund then yes, i do think you are an idiot.

i own a bunch of MU too (and AMD, NVDA, etc) but its in VITAX. and if you think the "top" for VITAX was last week at 515 i'd probably agree with you. but "going all cash" because if it is not the answer

I mean from a contrarian strategist, hes not wrong, and i even envisioned the iran deal runup when this thread was started, and it is still a defensible postion, but doing it all at once ie, "selling everything tomorrow" is retarded, I really dont give a fk about your strategy, you know nothing of managing money if youre doing anything all at once on a feeling.
