Cashed it all out. Feel a sense of immense relief.

This isn’t timing the market. This is selling assets today for far greater value than what they are worth long term. The only asset I’d ever consider holding forever is land. Nothing else. Certainly not stock.
I repeat: predict your future self will suffer from your present self’s attempt to time the market.
Stocks are to inflation what penicillin is to STDs.

Really? Their PV is greater than their PV of future cash flows from ownership? Curious what you own to come to that conclusion.
Land = don’t forget the carrying costs.

I am an independent and don't vote by party, but we better hope we get better than these two. The choices seem disappointing in both sides.
I feel good that I will make money either way.

Have heard this many times. A lot more in 2022. Often wonder how long it took before they jumped back in at higher prices or how much in gains they missed on? Eventually Someone will time this right but to each his own i guess. Will always keep some cash around just in case but will never go all cash unless forced to.

I was forced too. Most of my stuff was in garbage like Micron and QQQs. I ain’t waiting for that bubble to burst. I’m getting out way ahead of it.
Guarantee all the Bitcoin Bros are selling at 60K when they had forever to sell at a 100. Some will HODL their hearts out back to 20,000. I’m not making that same mistake.
If you had all your holdings in defensive stocks or high dividend stuff, then I’d say just manage it but don’t get all the way out.
But if you are in tech and aren’t out by now, you’re chasing marginal additional dumb money chase gains and risking catastrophic 15+ year in the hole losses.

Yeah, we're done here.

Micron is a good stock to own at $60.
It’s an unbelievable stock to sell at $1,000.
Semis will never stop being cyclical. Chips are a commodity. Supply/Demand.
There’s no marginal value here. And when you understand it’s been the SOXX driving up the entire market- a cyclical commodity - you’d have to be insane to not sell.
Go look at a chart of Moderna to see how when one product is scarce and in great demand, earnings/price of the company making that product go sky high. When more supply comes on and demand weakens, it crashes. The Covid vaccine stocks were the same euphoric bubble that Semis are in now. It never lasts. It can’t. Look at the margin compression of SMCI too. Same thing is gonna happen to MU, WDC. Sandisk. Keeping you money invested in these tells me you are only looking 1 day in advance, not 2 years. I look 2 years

Getting out of stock market long term is far more catastrophic.
Are you financially independent (ie, your portfolio of assets generate enough cash that you never have to work again)? If not, do you plan to be? If so, when (at what age)?
Given your big swings approach (vs time in market, broader risk mgmt, and allocation strategies over time), and path to that end, curious.

Options are where the real money is made now. You can make money in any market with them.
Do you trade options?

If you knew what you were doing while thinking the market was going to retreat then instead of selling everything in one day you would methodically get out of the market and make money on your way out…assuming your prediction is accurate.
But yes carry on and vaguely tell us that you do something important and could be a teacher of all.
