Want to say A. None, but I am married and like blow jobs. Occasionally my wife will get influenced by something a friend has, I'm like this sucks by so will she.

None…other than keeping my home maintained and my yard mowed and looking at least average.

None. We buy and do whatever we want whenever we want. We don't try to impress anyone. If you saw me out in public, you might even think I am poor.

Your thread is dumb because everyone is going to respond the exact same way.
Who is going to respond and say they buy shite to impress their neighbors?
Yeah, a better question would've been how much, if any, do you spend on toys & luxuries.

None. 0%.
I am happy to the Jones but their lifestyle do not impact mine.

I do spend on high end shoes and clothes that last a long time. Last pair of shoes I brought was over 15 years ago and they still look great

A.
I never bought in to my visible assets making a statement of my success.
We are the Millionaire next door...

A. none
I have more money than my friends already but definitely don’t buy something just because they did.

I'd say 0%. I buy all my clothes at Ross/Sierra/Burlington/Poshmark.
I drove a 2001 Toyota 4Runner until the wheels fell off and felt like I upgraded to a 2025 when I bought a 2015 earlier this year.
I bought the house I could afford when I could afford it.
I've been flipping things on eBay for years and laugh when I find things that most people would consider a consumer good and I consider a profit.
The two things someone advising me would say to quit spending money on are trips and eating out, but you only live one time and you never know when it's your time, so I take my family out when I want and I go on trips with my wife and kids when I want.

What kinda shoes are you buying? I’ve probably bought 50 to 70 pair of footwear over the last 15 years.

Zero
I am not a stuff person at all. That mission I trip to Zimbabwe when I was 18 cured me of all of that and I saw real poverty
I don’t care what others have , it’s them that has to make the payments on all that shite.

Zero.
I suppose we kind of are the "Joneses" at this point. But even in leaner times, we never had a desire to live beyond our means, or to match someone else's lifestyle. It's not something we ever cared about.

My life does not resemble any of my friends or family in any form or fashion. But looking from the outside in, I would say at least 50% of my friends are influenced by those around them and 25% of my family.
So badass…
Quick question: do you own an Apple Watch? To me, this is one of the most influenced non essential purchases.

We're not really fancy people. We buy nice stuff for our main home since it'll look nicer and last longer. But we buy that for ourselves and for the utility of it, not for other people.
Only thing we really splurge on is vacation homes. We have a couple overseas that are extremely nice. But those pay for themselves through rent.

Not really, there is a little truth in that, but there are just some areas that i like to spend money in and when i do buy nice things i tend to by a REALLY nice version, but i also love to look for a deal when i do buy something. The Home is the easiest thing you overcook to put yourself in a bad spot and luckily we live in a relatively low cost of living place and got in early.
This. When I get into something new, I go all in and get the best shite for it.

Yeah. I can’t honestly say zero %. I mean I think I live reasonable for my salary, but to say I don’t occasionally buy some clothes, a belt, or nice boots to “look nice” to others would be a lie.
Almost everyone does at least a little of that.

Keeping up with the Jones is when you buy expensive shite while you don’t have enough money in the bank to pay your bills for 2-3 months. These people don’t save or save very little.
Buying nice shite when you actually have money in the bank isn’t keeping up with the Jones, it’s just enjoying the money you have responsibly. This describes most people on this board with the rest being misers who have money but never spend it.
No one on here likely spends money they don’t have on stupid shite instead of having reasonable savings. That’s keeping up with the Jones.
