Is there anyway to confirm the ticket?
How do you know you are not getting scammed?

You can ask the person selling to meet you at the LSU ticket office to have them scanned

Face-to-face cash only is best for all parties. Post history and text/phone calls are also good ways to gauge who you are dealing with.

Thanks Geaux_Tigers_08 I didn't know they would do that. Once they scan them does it then stop the buyer from also selling the electronic ticket?

Good question I’d like to know too. All I have is the hard ticket, can I request and electronic version as well somehow?

If you got it from a season ticket holder, he could transfer it via email through his season ticket account. I never thought of that but that would be a good idea.

I got it from Seat Geek. shite.

The seller made me sign for them though so I’m assuming he’s not trying to screw me.

At least the big corporate ticket brokers offer protection. Not worried about seatgeek, stubhub, etc as much. Just random guys off of unofficial ticket exchange sites like this one.

The safest transaction is buying from stubhub (for their guarantee) or paying a private seller with PayPal (with a Paypal invoice detailing the transaction) and a season ticket online transfer.

With stubhub, they'll guarantee tickets if you get fakes. The protection premium can be 30% though.

The PayPal invoice provides buyer protection from PayPal in case the seller never sends the tickets. The online transfer invalidates the barcodes on the hard tickets. You or the seller must pay the PayPal 3% fee to get their protection policy.

One method ensures you get in, the other ensures you get your money back.

Face to face cash provides no recourse except you’ve seen the seller’s face. The old eyeball test I guess. Even if the ticket is valid when sold to you, it can be resold on stubhub before the game and invalid by the time you try to use it.

Honestly post history is the best way to insure you are not getting scammed if buying in person with cash.

It would be a long arse con to set up an account 10 years ago and put in 10,000 plus posts just to scam someone on tickets.

Totally agree with everything you've said but if you couple a face-to-face with a post history it really shouldn't be too difficult to spot an honest person. But yes, if you want a money guarantee an electronic exchange via stubhub, paypal, or season ticket holder transfer is best.

exactly. I've never had a problem purchasing tickets on this board using this method.

There’s still a chance the seller could also sell his hard tickets and whoever gets to the gate first gets in. A buddy of mine bought tickets at the stadium for a game this year and when he tried to get in, apparently the transferred tickets had already been scanned. I assume they could track the season ticket holder and go after him but you’re still stuck at the gate not getting into the game.

re: Is there anyway to confirm the ticket?
As a former game marshal and ticket taker I would advise you to take the ticket and if possible the person selling the ticket to the ticket office to find out if the ticket is good. If the seller can't or won't go with you, think twice about buying the ticket especially if the seller wants cash and they're trying to sell the ticket in one of the parking lots.

I have still have vivid memories of telling fans their tickets would not scan. I can still remember the first time Saban came back to LSU as the BAMA coach. I had the unenviable task of telling five BAMA fans who drove here together all the way from Alabama that every one of their tickets were fake. They bought the tickets for cash in one our remote parking lots and by the time they learned what had happened the seller was long gone with their money. They didn't get into the game. Buyer beware.

That’s why you want to own the online transferred tickets from LSU instead of the original paper tickets. It doesn’t matter who gets to the gate first. The original paper tickets will not scan once LSU transfers them as new barcodes are created in that process.

Just to be clear, this only works from a season ticket holder. They go online to their account and submit a transfer. The buyer receives an email from LSU to login and claim/print the tickets. If someone is just emailing you a pdf, that is no safer than buying original hard tickets.

I agree that buying from someone with a long post history on here is safe.
