No. Not due to spite or anything like that. At this point, the only reason he would apologize is because he's being roasted nationally and is quite literally a punchline.

An apology now would be disingenuous and strictly self serving. It would be a PR stunt to salvage public opinion and his "legacy". In my opinion, he's already shown his true self.

No, nobody remembers the apology they only remember what caused it. He may get grace from the university but the fans won't forget

I’ve already washed my hands of this. It’s like he was never here to me.

We need to keep our current All Americans happy. Not so much some prima donna mama’s boy who thinks he owns a number.

I still hope he does well in the NFL. I don't hate him or anything.
But his name won't come up when I think of Tiger greats. As far as I'm concerned, he graduated from Arizona State.

He 100% whiffed on his first statement. Time will tell, if he makes another attempt. I would think that the sooner he does it (again) and gets it right the better things will be between him and Tiger Nation.

I guess I'm more of the opinion that college jerseys should not be retired - maybe with the exception of one or two.

Nobody in the last couple of decades is deserving of having their jersey acutally retired.

I certainly don’t think he will apologize. Sure that would be the classy thing to do. He did seem to have a cockiness about him while at LSU. However, he was one of the quickest fastest players I ever saw play.

I'm so old, I can remember 5 years ago when people were just as upset with Coach O and said they'd never forgive and forget...

"Forever" is a long time.

For the record: Other than Billy Cannon’s #20, numbers are not retired. Their jerseys are.
Any number other than 20 is still used and that’s LSU policy from 2007 and going forward

I don’t think he needs to apologize

He needs to publicly direct course, wish Pickett good luck and take a photo with Pickett and Lane.

Talk to Leavitt and put a story out about that and earn some good will.

Do a few things to show support for Pickett and the Tigers.

Never say done forever with a family member. I consider Jayden Daniels an LSU family member.

Yes. Easily.

Time usually heals all wounds. Hell, just look at LSU's athletic department. There are FOUR former HCs who were unceremoniously fired currently working for LSU. O, John Brady, Johnny Jones, Will Wade. If Daniels accepts some accountability that his fit was petty (even if LSU may have promised him the jersey number would not be issued again) the fans would get over it soon enough.

Billy Cannon went to federal prison. There is now a statute of him in front of the stadium. Many were mad at Mathieu for being selfish and getting himself kicked off the 2012 team (that may have won the NC with him on it). Now the fans love him again. The only way Daniels doesn't get welcomed back (even if not immediately) is him he remains obstinate and petty about this whole dumb episode (of his own creation)
