Archie Manning is an Ole Miss icon. During his time as a rebel, he was a hated man in Louisiana. There is a mutual hatred between the Manning family and LSU. That is why even though Archie who? played for the Saints and lived in New Orleans, his boys, Payton (TN) and Eli (Ole Miss) spurned LSU. His other son Cooper went to Ole Miss but had to give up football due to a medical condition.

Considering the state of the TN football program, Arch (his grandson, via Cooper ) is a dead ringer for Ole Miss, especially if Lane Kiffin is coaching there.

Very simple.

Archie is true blue Mississippi. Two days before the LSU/Clemson NCG he was WWL and made a point to say that LSU needed a Mississippi QB to make it to the NCG (Burrows dad was born in Mississippi and grandparents lived there). This is anecdotal, but to some extent reveals his feelings about what place he considers to be his “home”. The folks older than me will tell you that Archie felt (and stayed) that LSU and Cholly Mac intentional went after his broken arm in the last game. There is no doubt he still feels that way and raised his sons to feel the same way. Cooper went to Ole Miss as a legacy. Mediocre high school WR that should not have been on a D 1 roster. Injury needed his career, but he went on the become Mr Ole Miss , red pants and all. Between Archie and Cooper——there is no way in hell they will let this kid put LSU in his final 3, let alone attend. The hate is string and has been there since the broken arm game. The hate for Alabama is here too, for similar reasons, but not on the same level as the LSU hate.

There was no way Peyton was going to play for a Curley Hallman coached team.

LSU also had a commitment from Josh Booty who to some was the better high school QB recruit.

Ole Miss beat LSU in Jackson in 1969. Only loss for the Tigers in 1969.

Parents guide their kids to the best possible situation for them to succeed personally. There is no way in hell I would have sent my son to play QB for LSU in the 90's. It has nothing to do with personal hatred, but everything to do with what school was going to give them the best opportunity to play and develop.

LSU was NOT that place in the 90's.

Archie Manning played for a hated rival. Do you really think he is going to steer his kids to another school. Payton did his own thing. Cooper and Eli both went to Ole Piss. If Kiffin does well I think Arch heads there as well.

As good as he is, I'd be fine with a Manning not wearing purple and gold.

I shot the shite with Archie in Oxford once

We were tailgating early and he was going for a morning walk. We called him over and he came and talked with us and had a great conversation for about 25 minutes

And this was in 2009 and we were 22 year old college kids

For Peyton,
Josh Booty was at LSU so that was his deterrent.

i have family that is friends with the family and they have nothing but good things to say about them and specifically cooper.

based on this thread alone...I wouldnt want my son to go be around trashy arse people like the ones posting in here.

not to mention LSU sucks dick as a school right now and is going down hill like a freight train with the woke BS.

THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS AND THE STATE OF LOUISIANA HAVE BEEN AWFULL GOOD TO THE MANNINGS AND MAYBE IT'S TIME FOR A BIT OF RECIPROCITY.

as you noted they have their passing academy in Louisiana which benefits Louisiana and have lived in New Orleans for a long time. If all they did was live there and pay taxes they would be contributing to the state but they have started businesses, done charitable work and done plenty of actual "RECIPROCITY".

You however are defining "RECIPROCITY" as playing football and attending one of albeit the flagship university in the state because that's the team you root for, would it not be "RECIPROCITY" if they went to Tulane or La Tech? Next you only care because they are good at football. No one gives a flying frick where Cooper Manning's daughter ultimately goes to college for that matter no one gave a flying frick where Cooper went

This idea that the Mannings have done nothing for Louisiana because the good football players did not play for LSU is both false and petty.
