Archie played at Ole Miss when the Rebels’ rivalry with LSU was at its highest. Not surprisingly, the old man isn’t fond of LSU.

Do you have any idea how much Archie Manning hates LSU? All of them despise LSU period. Arch has zero chance of being a Tiger because of that family influence.

Let’s be real here. There was no way Peyton was going to play for a Curley Hallman coached team. And Eli wasn’t going to play for Dinardo either.

It’s well known that the Mannings hated LSU, but were willing to go where they could succeed, and LSU, at the time, was not known for developing qb’s. It was quite the opposite, actually. On top of that, both Dinardo and Hallman struggled mightily recruiting the Nola area.

A lot was going against LSU in the 90’s in terms of landing the Mannings.

All that matters is LSU has won more NC's in the last 18 years than all the Manning's combined

3-0

LSU has also won more NC's in the last 18 years than the Manning's schools combined since Archie played

3-1

Jokes on the Manning's

The way I remember it was A Manning did not want Peyton to compete with Josh Booty at LSU. Peyton wanted to go to LSU. But Archie insisted and Peyton went to Tenn. Then Booty chose to go pro baseball. In 1999 Eli also wanted to go to LSU, but guess who decided to quit baseball and go to LSU to play football>.....Booty. And again the Manning family vetoed Eli going up against the same person they vetoed Peyton going to LSU.

The most wrong answer; so wrong it’s laughable. It’s much more simple; as people have stated, they are a very Ole Miss family. That’s it. Peyton didn’t go to ole miss because Steve Sloan and probation; Eli never wavered from Ole Miss. Archie is less tied to Ole Miss because they ran off Dan Jones and Khayat and have become a woke school so to speak. Wouldn’t count out any school for Arch that showcases the qb position along with being a power 5 school with a chance at playoffs plus Ole Miss.

60+ rabid screaming Tiger fans telling Archie where to go just may have a little to do with it.

This. Their (Ole Miss fans in general) attitude that they are descended from southern aristocracy is laughable. Screw em and their shitty overrated grove.

My dad hated LSU because they tried to break Archie’s arm again when he was in a cast in the 70s. Archie and his wife Olivia lived a few doors down in married student housing at Ole Miss. If my dad hated LSU for that ( and he was from Louisiana)…..

That being said, they want the best school fit for their kids but they let them decide where they want to go. The pressure from Ole Miss is huge but if he wants to go to LSU, they will not stop him, or discourage him. But are we the best fit right now? We are pretty stout at QB. Hell who cares who gets any commit now. It’s just as likely that he would transfer here now. You have to recruit kids now until they graduate

Plus I don’t think Archie is capable of hating anyone.

Archie's mother, post game, repeatedly & almost tearfully thanked Coach Mac & the LSU players for taking it easy on Archie. Her comments were documented in not only the local papers but in a story from Sports Illustrated. And Peyton has said, numerous times over the years, that he was going to Oxford till Cooper got hurt & had to give up football. Cooper was a WR & the brothers wanted to play together. I'd seen Archie over the years, when he was a Saint, at LSU / O.Miss baseball & basketball games. Make no mistake about it, he is a blue blood, die hard O.Miss alum. I've never heard anything one way or another about Cooper beyond he was a huge supporter of Eli's.

Archie has gone on record to praise the LSU defense for not exploiting his injury and being very careful when they hit him. He claimed when he got sacked sometimes it felt like the defenders would just lay him down on the field.

Are you saying Josh Booty was not a higher rated QB coming out of HS than Peyton?

The Manning’s are letting Arch go where he wants. Just like Eli and Peyton. They are good about that. Arch has two young QBs ahead of him at LSU, including his friend Walker Howard.
