Michigan just fired their coach for inappropriate behavior with a staffer!!

Having a brain is the most important.

He gets players in the portal from schools that rarely make the tourney. But, we are told that his new roster is better than before. Truthfully, we just continue playing mid-major basketball at best!

If we want to compete in the SEC, then it’s time to hire a real coach.
You must have been in the team meeting Coach Mac had that Sunday afternoon. Right?

Seems like he did well this year. Plus, his playing resume is outstanding!!

Didn’t the current/former LSU oline coach have the same resume? Question is- Can he actually coach defensive linemen? Not just recruit them.

Briefly. But then became a huge embarrassment, both professionally and personally!!

Good one!! Been following LSU since being a freshman in 1966. Moved to Massachusetts to line next door to three wonderful granddaughters. Who by the way watch LSU football with me.

Only thing wrong with Massachusetts is no SEC football close enough to attend. Thank goodness for ABC!!

If that’s the case, happy for him. Ruston is a great place to live and raise a family. Lots of great LSU alumni in the area!!

Probably so, but I wonder. Yes, Kiffin is the new head coach and should pick his staff. Just seems odd to hire this guy.

Defensive Line Coach

Why would LSU hire a demoted DC from Syracuse as dline coach? If you are putting a championship program together, get championship quality coaches. IMO.
Terry Bradshaw’s senior year at Woodlawn. It was the 1965 football season. I believe Sulphur was the home team.
Also, Jack Doland was the defensive backs coach. He was the Sulphur head coach on the state championship team.
Arthur, Kent Carlin, and Bill Thomason came to LSU from Sulphur’s state championship team. I was a freshman that year as well all of us lettered multiple years except for Kent.

Have to say that the Tigers of 1969 were special!!
Particularly if he quits dropping passes.
Really.

I think there will be little difference. The oline will still have problems, receivers will still drop some catchable throws, Nuss will still have some footwork issues, and we will still scratch our heads with some of the offensive play calls.

Defensive play will probably mirror what we have seen.

Overall, I expect the enthusiasm from the players/coaches will notch up. Maybe even see some big special teams plays.

He has family connections to a strong political family in New Orleans. IMO, this political family kept him from being fired after his suspension. This same family and its political friends are pushing for Ausberry’s appointment now without LSU hiring an AD search committee!!

The search committee would probably find a more qualified candidate.
It is for this situation that Ausberry should not be considered for the LSU AD position. At a nationally known university like LSU, character issues for which Ausberry was suspended should disqualify him for a senior leadership position.

IMO, his employment should have been terminated for cause over his Title IX failure.

It is hard to believe that state, university, alumni leadership turns a blind eye to this. The personal values many of us learned growing up are being ignored. Sad!!

If LSU wants to be known as a 1st class university with a Top 5 athletics program, LSU should always do a bonafide national search for key positions!! The current chaos at LSU demonstrates a complete lack of leadership!!
