Nick Saban would hire him as a recruiting co-ordinatior and send him to Louisiana to sabotage our recruiting.
Mark my words. O will not go quietly.
College Medal Tally

We won 11 medals at the Olympics including 6 golds.
6 Gold Medals, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze medals
We contributed 5 for the US, 1 for NZ, AU, GB, CA and Sweden.

We were ranked 9th amongst NCAA institutions.

If we were a nation we would be:
23rd in overall medal rankings
17th in gold medal rankings

This is of 86 countries that won medals and overall 205 countries that participated.

Not bad at all.

Hear goes the breakdown:

Vernon Norwood |USA | Track & Field | Gold (Men's 4x400m relay) & Bronze (Mixed 4X400 relay)

Brooks Curry |USA | Swimming | Gold (Men's 4x100m freestyle)

Mondo Duplantis |Sweden | Track & Field | Gold (Men's Pole Vault)

Michael Cherry | USA | Track & Field | Gold ( 4 × 400 metres relay )

Sylvia Fowles | USA | Women's Basketball | Gold

Aleia Hobbs |USA | Track & Field | Silver (Women's 4x100m relay)

Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake | Great Britain | Track & Field | Silver (Men's 4x100m relay)

Allysha Chapman |Candada | Soccer | Gold
Michael Venus | New Zealand | Tennis | Bronze (Men's doubles)

Duop Reath |Australia | Basketball | Bronze (Men's Basketball)

Only Mondo Duplantis makes me sad. He is born and raised in Lafayette, LA of a Swedish mother and a American father. He goes to LSU and gets trained and then competes for Sweden! Why Mondo? Why!.

We were behind China in the gold medal tally for all but the last day. It was a come back from behind victory. Mondo's gold would have helped if he had competed for the US.

There was a vaccine for smallpox by then. The smallpox vaccine was invented by 1800.

This...plus...

(1) Smallpox outbreaks (like all other virus' known to man ) was always in pockets, infecting a small group of people in close geographical proximity like a small village / neighborhood of a city etc. COVID spreads globally very fast and is effectively distributed uniformly across the world.

(2) There was always a vaccine available, so you could isolate the infected and vaccinate the neighborhood. In case of COVID, isolation and vaccination can only slow it down a little and help public health officials manage the crisis better.
I agree that mRNA is untested technology and the Pfizer and ModeRNA vaccines might lead to unforeseen side effects.

The Oxford-Astra Zeneca vaccine which is based on a weakened common cold virus, is a non mRNA vaccine. It is supposed to be less effective at 70-80% efficacy, but can prevent hospitalization and death. It is also safer and used old school technology.

It is not approved in the US, though it was part of Trump's operation warp speed, mainly because Fauci wanted to promote the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Apparently Fauci's wife apparently works for Pfizer ( not know this for a fact ). It is being administered world wide. There are minor risks of blood clotting but it is very rare.

So would you baws be willing to take it.
I think it is wrong to force people to take any medication ( especially experimental vaccination ). I have taken the vaccine but feel I have no right to preach vaccination or against it.

Also we are on a slippery slope. Today it is a experimental vaccine, tomorrow it is an experimental drug and the day after we have to surrender medical records and the right to privacy all but disappears.

So forced vaccinations are a really BAD idea and is un-democratic.

Muscle Shoals, AL

Isn't it where Curly Hallman used to coach football after leaving LSU.
Honestly most of you might have already discussed this but still...

In summary: CAN YOU COMPETE TO WIN AGAINST THE RESOURCES OF TEXAS. THE ANSWER IS NO.

The long form version:

[1] Recruiting
In the NIL era it is all about the $$$$. We are LSU and we have money, but compared to Texas we do not. They will win every recruiting battle. We used to do very well in the Houston area. Now that market is all but shut.

They will raid North Louisiana, they will raid Baton Rouge and New Orleans for all the 5 star recruits. Lil brother A&M just bought one of our own.

Now this would not be so bad if we were not in the same league but now we will have to play them, in all like hood every year.

We have never been outgunned by talent in the SEC in the last 20 years. Now we will get outgunned.

[2] Scheduling

How will the SEC schedule its games.

Four POD system
The 4 pod system will not fly because, how will you select the 2 participants for the SECCG without a 4 team playoff?

Managing the rivalry games i.e, Au-Al, Au-GA, Al-TN, Fl-GA, FL-TN, OM-MSU will be difficult.

Two divisions
If we maintain the two divisions and add Texas and OU to either division, who goes where. Our schedule then will be Al, Au, TAMU ($ advantage), UT ($ advantage)/OU, Fl ($). That is brutal especially with at least 3 schools with deep pockets for recruiting and Alabama. Wow!

Al and Au moving to the east and Texas and OU joining the west along with Mo
So our opponents will be Texas, OU, Mo, Ark, TAMU, OM, MSU. Basically we are moving to the pre-expansion Big 8/12/SWC.

So the traditional SEC will be the SEC East or the (SouthEastern division) and SEC West will be the Big12/SWC division.

Texas and OU are not moving to the SEC, LSU along with OM and MSU are moving to the Big12/SWC.

Now in that case all traditional rivalries will be intact as all the bloody SEC powers will be in the same division......except LSU.

We will be the 4th power in the Big12 division. Oh! my God, we will become Ok. State

If we have the 8 game conference schedule, we will play the likes of Auburn once in many years....We can cherish the "Earthquake Game","Barn burner game", "The Cecil Collins game", The 2007 "Catch", The 2018 come back from behind.

[3] Losses to other schools
While we get burnt the most, other states will be hurt.
You think Texas will allow:
(a) The SEC championship game to be held in Atlanta...Neaux...It will be in Jerry world.

(b) The SEC media days and the baseball tournament will be held in Hoover...Neaux...In Houston.

(c) How long before the league office is moved from Birmingham, AL to Dallas or Houston or Austin. The money, the media will all be in Texas.

(d) As a LSU fan, I hated the call that overturned the PP7 interception @Tuscaloosa in 2009, The innumerable bad calls against us while playing @Bama and @Auburn. You can do that to LSU but you cannot do that to Texas, not with their financial advantage. So the Tom Ritter shenanigans will have to end.

:rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Almost makes it worth while.

(e) All of Nick Saban's hard work on the recruiting trail will come to naught. Whatever those idiots in Alabama think, they do not have the money to by 85 of the ESPN / Rivals top 100. That price tag annually is 85 million USD and if you throw in the million of a player, Texas will throw in 2 .

[4] Arrogance of Texas
(a) Texas never demands a seat at the table of equals. They demand a thrown from where they can rule. As Nebraska, Colorado, Texas A&M, Missouri. How long before they demand a thrown or the Longhorn network within the SEC.

(b) Texas destroyed every conference it is part off. The SWC was wiped off the map. So will the Big 12 in its current form. The SEC will be next

[5] Money
It is true we will earn a lot. But how much will it take to recruit against Texas. Also if we are outgunned in talent, we will get outgunned in coaching (we always have had mediocre coaching Archer, Curly, DiNardo, Les, EdO etc.)

If we can't win can we make money

virus that has a 99% survival rate

You might survive, but post Covid complications can keep you going in and out of the hospital for the next decades.

In medicine there is a term called 5 year survival rate. It it the percentage of people who are alive 5 years from the date of first diagnosis.

For Covid we do know that. Other virus' leave patients with long time disability.

Polio is one of them, where typically one suffers partial paralysis five years after recovery.

Small pox leaves people blind or badly scarred.

Also when you contract HIV, it first appears as a common cold which goes away after few days. Then 5 years later, you are at deaths doorstep.

The problem with Covid is we still do not know what are the long term consequences of this virus. Will it just go away or will it stay dormant inside a infected body only to come back 5 years later kill.

This may sound fear mongering but please ask your doctor about this and ask their opinion.

Also Covid infects republicans and democrats, conservatives and liberals, black, white, Hispanic, asian, male, female equally, so stop making this a political issue and wage a culture war. This is a medical issue.

First, he graduated nearly 10 years ago...let it go. There have been worse LSU QBs.

Second, it's hard for me to blame ANY LSU QB from 2009 - 2016 (perhaps a few years longer) for poor play as the general philosophy on offense was to avoid the middle of the field in the passing game at all costs and handcuff every QB with the most risk averse offense possible.

This is really a good perspective. If Jordan Jefferson was in the Urban Meyer system, while he would not look as good as Tim Tebow, he would certainly fair much better.

The hillbillies in Afghanistan

The Taliban who were shielding Bin Laden were not mountain people. They occupied Kabul and Kandahar. When the US went in the entire gang including Mr. Bin Laden, fled like cowards, for Pakistan, from which they fought a proxy war.

The Taliban government of Kabul and Kandahar were not recognized by all non-Islamic countries. They were enemy combatants and were not under the purview of the Geneva convention.

We should have nukes Kabul and Kandahar without warning with a Hiroshima class bomb delivered via missile. 40 million Afghans would have vaporized and we would not have had to fight a 20 year war. So many of our best would not have paid with their lives and limbs.

But you can thing Dick and George W Bush for that.
My biggest fear is that when the winner of the head baseball
coaching sweepstakes is revealed, we might end up with someone that makes me wish it was Bianco.

Bianco, was a good recruiter and can take his team to a regional every year, a super regional once in a while and a CWS once in a blue moon. For teams not named LSU that is a reasonable coach. However, there are plenty of coaches worse than Bianco out there.

We ( Woodward not withstanding ), have always had the tendency to do worse than our potential when hiring coaches.
