I'd love to see the following lineup playing together in their prime. Just for a few minutes in a game:

Simmons
Scales
Maravich
Livingston
CJ

Loved Scales!

Livingston’s injuries were devastating

He was an excellent on ball defender. You could take Ice Reynolds at that spot.

Loved Sidney Wicks

Is it stretching to have Jabbar and Walton on the same starting five?

Maybe, but Kareem and Walton were just so dominant in their prime. You could start Wicks and have Walton coming off the bench, like he did for the '86 Celtics. The UCLA team is the one that scares me the most.

I didn't do Kansas but they would have a great all time team with Chamberlain and Manning as well as a host of others. UCLA, LSU, N. Carolina, and Kansas are probably best all time. I didn't try to put together a Kentucky or Duke team but without looking I like LSU's chances.

I was a student back in those days. John Williams was an exceptional talent but my vote goes to Durand "Rudy" Macklin. We would have won the national championship had he not broken his finger .

PG – Phil Ford

Move Jordan to SG and put Vinsanity in the starting lineup at SF. I can’t imagine how many dunks he’d get with defenses having to focus on the rest of that talent.

I'd switch positions for Chris and Pete.

Ethan Martin - PG
Pisol - SG
Durand Macklin - SF
Petit PF
Shaq - center

John Williams would have made Ben Simmons his bitch if we are comparing the two of them

Not sure, but he has won rookie of the year, perennial 3x all star, 3rd team all nba already, 1st team all nba defense already, and averaging 16 pts--8 rebs--8 assts

Try 15.9 ppg and thd 55th leading scorer. Ho hum
7.8 assists per game, 10th in the league good, not great
8 rebounds per game, 22nd in the league good, not great

Third team nba????

UNC—Kenny Smith, MJ, Stackhouse, JR Reid, Brad D at center ? Trying to think of their best PF/C combo. Worthy at PF over Reid? Would be a hell of a starting five for them. UNC’s bench is deeper all time.

Now you really have to define what you mean by "all time team", because Phil Ford, Bob McAdoo, and Walter Davis would have Smith, Reid and Brad Doughty all sitting on the bench.

Hell, Lennie Rosenbluth, career 27 ppg that led UNC 32-0 to the '57 NC against Chamberlain's Kansas team would have Stackhouse on the bench.

Good team, but I guarantee that you every retired sports writer living in The Triangle area is going to have Lennie Rosenbluth over James Worthy on the all-time team.

I was at that Georgetown game in DC. We still had a shot to tie even after Jose shot and missed and then fouled. Derrick Taylor missed a foul line jumper at the buzzer. This game was in mid January. Williams had just gotten out of the hospital with chicken pox. I think we only dressed 8 guys. Several guys were still sick. The game was almost cancelled because of the chicken pox outbreak. After the game Coach Brown told me "Dont worry. We are going to be ok. We just need to get everbody back". Two months later they made the great run to the Final 4 !!!

Rudy Macklin. He was awesome in the Final Four year of 1980-81.

To mention Bob Pettit and Big Baby in the same text is just horrendous. Bob Pettit was ten times a better player, MVP in the NBA for one example, and 100 times a better person.

That's one of the games I keep searching for on YouTube. That was the game Billy Packer said Williams was playing like "a man among boys." That was the first time I remember Williams putting the team on his back and really dominating.

Yes, but I meant that Kareem and Walton were both centers, no?
