Now with the technology of plexiglas (thick like at banks) a 10foot wide by 15 foot long trailer with AC, audio with internet transfer to speakers in stadium would prove a virtual bar less cage which Mike VII would have no fear to enter and roar his arse off....
Extra wide trailer is legal to cross stadium drive easily ......
Let Texas have their NIL money and long horned steer but we would have a modern cage with the most beautiful, roaring arse Siberian Tiger who lives in a castle habitat better than any zoo in the world !
Make it happen Board of supervisors NOW

I was. Kinda overrated, and the thought that a caged zoo animal next to a visitors locker room was somehow intimidating is kind of embarrassing. Glad they got rid of it.

Saw it.
Miss it.
Truthfully Mike enjoyed his outings.
Unfortunately the newer generations like to virtue signal. I’ll take real manly pride in my downvotes.
Thank you.

Ok you’ve made this an apples to oranges type deal here. I don’t think bringing Mike into the stadium or sliding down the Indian mounds can be compared to physically assaulting/murdering special needs children.

Who’s old enough to remember when Mike the Tiger was lowered from the Pmac rafters
Kentucky game February 1982. Unfortunately I had to watch it on TV since it would be four years before I graduated HS and got to attend LSU. That was an epic game too! (Still have a copy of it on an old Beta video tape.)

I saw it vs Arkansas in 2015. Haven’t seen it since.
No, McNeese on Sept. 5, 2015, was the last time they brought him into the Stadium. That Arkansas game did have a streaker, though

Who remembers in the early 80s playing Ole Miss on Halloween night and a hearse leading Mikes cage and pickup truck with the cheerleaders out on the field. The caravan stopped in front of the student section and the cheerleaders got down and pulled a casket out of the hearse and pit it on the 20 yd line. Col Reb walked up to it and looked closely at it and Mike “Count Dracula” the tiger mascot jumped out of the coffin and chased Col Reb back to visitor end. Gotcha on the whole stadium!

I remember when they used to walk Mike on a leash and let him jump at the opposing players, he killed 1 guy and PETA shut it down.
I was there the night they let him play special teams. He bit the neck of that Florida guy and we got penalized 15 yards on the opening kickoff. So Miles decided to go with the costumed mascot and it just wasn't the same.

Both of my daughters were cheerleaders and had the honor of riding on top of the cage. Quite an experience for them and me.

My first games in TS were Tulane vs LSU games back in the day with the wheel barrel races and the rivalry pre-game stuff was legendary/ very cool. I was a kid, but that was some good times & Tulane had some good teams back in the 80’s. We sat in the rain when Tulane won 31-28, I’ve always thought they should renew this rivalry, if we are playing some of the existing slouches on our schedule, why not bring Tulane back as an every year non-conference game? The last couple of years, they could have given us some decent games I’m sure. But they just lost a very good coach in Willie Fritz to Houston, will be interesting to see how their new coach does. Sorry I hunched the OP and injected some Tulane stuff, just reminded myself of that rivalry with my Uncles and Dad getting all crazy.

Back in the 70’s it was the tradition. Mike is a gorgeous animal. My gf and I saw Mike in his new living quarters later in life and he started licking himself. I jokingly told her that I wish I could do that. She said “You better pet him first!”

I remember that and the deaf dome meter. Wish they were good enough to bring back the deaf dome meter

I love animals & don’t mind that we killed this tradition, but you have to admit it was SPINE TINGLING.

I was there! Was a very unique experience for the visiting team. He was brought through at the visitor gate.

The story I've always heard that at some point Mike got a new Vet who was responsible for his care & ruled that the stadium's noise was too traumatic for Mike. But a funny story was when S.Cal.'s, with 13-14-15 All Americans, Marcus Allen said that their team had a lot of inner city players, city boys, and as they started to run past Mike's cage, parked in their tunnel, 5-6 of them froze when Mike roared. Allen said he scraed the crap out of them ,never having seen a live Tiger before.

Mike the Tiger was followed by the cheerleaders riding in the Pike fire truck with Wes Wyman at the wheel!

All those youngsters have no clue how the visitors had to face Mike when coming out onto the field.
